Award winning EMH Productions continues its seventh season of provocative and compelling theatre with the Sacramento premiere of Inversion by up and coming writer Aditya Putcha. A five-character modern day dramedy, this play made its debut at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2017 at the Sacred Fools Theatre. This timely 90 minute play delves into the world of dating, treatment of women as sex objects, the dynamics of relationships between men and women, along with testing our understanding of what it means to truly care for one another. It had its first staged reading to a sold out and enthusiastic audience in June of 2016 directed by Elise Hodge and Produced by EMH Productions. Inversion will run at The Ooley Theatre, Nov. 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 2018 located at 2007 28th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.

Adam, a socially awkward mathematician, especially with women, laments his inability to find the hot woman of his dreams before his mom declines too far into the world of Alzheimer's. His best friend, Brendan, who seems to get any woman he wants, tries to support his endeavor, with disastrous results. Thus begins the spiral into dating and love and relationships as Brendan encourages Adam to date a low self esteemed slightly older woman, Rhonda, in order to help Adam learn how to date. In meeting up with Rhonda, Adam finds his hot woman: Natalia, Rhonda's roommate. Thinking he's finally met the woman of his dreams, Adam forges ahead with Natalia thinking maybe he can also ease his mother's concerns about his well being as she declines. Romantic entanglements explode in this touching, all too real look at how men and women relate to not only the opposite sex as friends and lovers, but how friendships are tested by the dating world.

This will be the seventh year for EMH Productions to bring thought provoking, intimate and unique theatre to the audiences in Sacrameto. EMH Productions supports the art of acting, directing, producing and writing through live theatre productions, film, TV and casting. The goal is to provide an arena that artists in this industry can network, grow their craft and find support to achieve their dreams. In every production the executive creative director, Elise Hodge, looks to bring in a new director, actor or writer to showcase their talents, to be a stepping stone in a career path as an artist in this community. She selects material based on its social impact, its essential message that she believes will either move people, test their beliefs, or simply make them laugh. Stories have always been her passion, as she believes through story telling do we truly find ways to reach out to one another, to touch each other on a human level. She participates in every production as the producer, set designer and builder, and then additionally as an actor or director. She has produced over 15 shows in the Sacramento area alone, her roots coming from The 68 Crew based in Los Angeles, CA. EMH also strongly believes in giving back to the community and often supports a local charity with her productions. Previous productions include Doubt (2016), Goodbye Freddy (2016), Look Back in Anger (2016), the debut of an original work These Lonesome Roads (2016), An Almost Perfect Person (2015), her own original work Fragile Things (2015) and After Hours ((2013), Down the Road (2013), Moving Mountains (2013), Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead (2013), Liar (2012) and My Fellow Creatures (2012). THE WRITER
This is Aditya Putcha's first full length theatre piece and he's proud to bring it to Sacramento for its premiere here. His passion for story telling brought him to this first stepping stone as an up and coming playwright. His aspirations as an actor and a writer have now been brought together in this endeavor, as he takes on the title role of Adam in this touching story based on his own personal experiences in the world of dating. As a young man with a pronounced stutter, especially around, women, Aditya took that "quirk" of his and turned it into a hilarious and often heart wrenching stumbling block for his title character in this play. Aditya himself has spent his fair share of time learning with speech therapists on how to control his stutter but it still gets the better of him as we get to witness in his trials as Adam. A funny, sweet, no holds barred look at the world of friendships, dating and love unfolds with a vulnerability few of us would be bold enough to share. As a writer and actor, Aditya is a rare gem. Previous acting credits include stage productions of 12 Angry Men, Macbeth, and Office Space.
