Dana Brazil Joins Providence Performing Arts Center as Director of Education

J.L. "Lynn" Singleton, President of the Providence Performing Arts Center, is pleased to announce that Dana Brazil is the new Director of Education at the Theatre. For the past five years, Ms. Brazil previously served as the Senior Director of Education at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, FL.

Singleton said, "PPAC has always been dedicated to educational programming, which includes our From Books to Broadway program, the Bank of America Arts Showcase, Learn It to Earn It, and our ARTS Scholarships program. Soon, we will announce several new initiatives that will expand PPAC's educational outreach and will form the basis for a new academic platform that Dana will implement. Dana is an accomplished performing arts administrator and educator, and we are looking forward to working with her."

After retiring from her professional performance career, Ms. Brazil transitioned into arts administration as the Associate Director of the Michigan State Federal Credit Union Institute for Arts and Creativity at Wharton Center for the Performing Arts. During her time there, she established herself as an educational leader in the Broadway community.

Ms. Brazil left the Wharton Center in 2013 to help open and spearhead the education/ community outreach platform for the Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts, which opened in November 2014, in Orlando, Florida. As the Senior Director of Education, Ms. Brazil created a national education platform and award-winning School of the Arts. She worked extensively with arts and medicine and developing sensory-friendly programming.

In 2015, she was the recipient of The Broadway League's Outstanding Achievement in Education and Engagement Award. The following year, she received an honorable mention for the 2016 Education Tony Award. In 2018, she received the Sandi Breitenstein Volunteer of the Tear Award from O.C.A. (Opportunity, Community, Ability) for her volunteer work with the Running Man Theatre Company, which she founded in 2015. The Running Man Theatre Company is comprised of actors with special needs and autism.
