12 Peers Theater announces their eighth season featuring the return of Mythburgh, a site-specific performance and storytelling series, and two local premieres, Blank and Everybody. Blank is a performance piece by Nassim Soleimanpour, the mastermind behind 2016's White Rabbit Red Rabbit. Everybody is a 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins that remixes the classic Everyman for a modern audience. The play features a rotating cast of performers, ensuring no two performances are the same.
"12 Peers Theater has been lucky enough to produce some of the most interesting and exciting contemporary playwrights, and we will continue that trend in our 2019 Season," says Artistic Director Vince Ventura. "We will revisit the experiment started with 2016's White Rabbit Red Rabbit and bring a 2018 Pulitzer Finalist to the greater Pittsburgh area. Our 2019 season is a meditation on meaning, fate, and impermanence. What better way to do that than to look back as we look forward."

Telling the stories that make Pittsburgh unique, online and in person
Mythburgh finds myth and inspiration in the creepy, epic, weird, and truly Pittsburgh stories, told by Pittsburghers and adapted by local playwrights into short plays and digital content. Featuring a recurring cast of characters with their own online lives and a site-specific location, Mythburgh will push the limits of live theatre and engage audiences online and in person.
Blank
May 2 - 19, 2019
Richard E. Rauh Studio Theatre
The University of Pittsburgh
Performed by a new actor at each performance and continuing the formal experiment that marked White Rabbit Red Rabbit, Nassim Soleimanpour brings us Blank. Through a joint effort between audience and performer, the gaps in the script are filled in to reveal a story that celebrates the human imagination. As formally inventive as it is engaging, Blank reverses the typical theatre experience: A script riddled with blanks leaves the audience in charge of how the story will unfold. The concept might be simple, but the result is nothing short of empowering as a random audience member sees his or her future determined by the imagination of others.
Everybody
Directed by Vince Ventura
August 1 - 18, 2019
Richard E. Rauh Studio Theatre
The University of Pittsburgh
This modern riff on the 15th-century morality play Everyman follows "Everybody" (chosen from amongst the cast by lottery at each performance) as he or she travels down a road toward life's greatest mystery. With 120 possible casting combinations assigned to the actors during the performance, no two performances of this 2018 Pulitzer Prize Finalist will be the same.
