Phoenix Chorale Presents PATHWAYS OF DEVOTION

Adoration, faithfulness, longing...humanity's expressions of spiritual and worldly devotion have inspired choral composers since before the Renaissance and for sixty years, the Phoenix Chorale has honored many of these musical works in performance. On February 22-24, the Phoenix Chorale presents "Pathways of Devotion," led by Artistic Director Finalist Christopher Gabbitas.

The Chorale's February concerts present exquisite musical works of spiritual adoration and worldly affection spanning 500 years with visions of heaven, religious pilgrimage, and romantic love. Featuring music from Thomas Weelkes to Arvo P rt, and Felix Mendelssohn to Libby Larsen, the "Pathways of Devotion" program concludes with five familiar and well-loved "musical valentines:" folk songs from Britain and the Americas, originally arranged for The King's Singers.

Grammy-winning artist Christopher Gabbitas spent the last 15 years as a member and managing partner of The King's Singers, performing nearly 2,000 concerts worldwide, conducting over 500 masterclasses, and appearing on more than 30 commercial recordings. Gabbitas appears on their most recent recording, Gold, which has been nominated for the 2018 Grammy Award for "Best Classical Compendium." Gabbitas studied at St. John's College, Cambridge and Christ Church, Oxford, and soon joins the faculty of the University of Redlands in Redlands, California, where he co-created a new master's degree course combining elite choral performance and music business education.
