Goldenstein Gallery Kicks Off Impressionist-Expressionist Show

With a history that spans nearly eighteen years, Goldenstein Gallery has earned a well-deserved reputation for delighting people with the unexpected. Curated by owner Linda Goldenstein, the gallery seeks to inspire and move their collectors and enhancing their lives through art. An inspired public has been the recipient of their reach throughout Sedona and at the Gallery including the special Artist Coffee Talk Series, the dazzling city wide exhibitions, James Muir's newly installed "Christ of the Holy Cross" at The Chapel of the Holy Cross and their renowned Artists in Residence program at L'Auberge De Sedona. On June 1, 5-8pm, Goldenstein kicks off their highly anticipated and popular show: Impressionist-Expressionist.

When we think of arts most enduring and popular modalities, Impressionism and Expressionism, we don't envision something radical. Yet in their time these movements were ground breaking and forever changed the art world. On Friday June 1st, from 5-8pm, Goldenstein Gallery holds an opening reception for Impressionist-Expressionist as part of its dynamic two-month series celebrating different art modalities. Among the featured works are paintings by JA Gorman, Kevin McCarthy, Lynette Jennings, Ameil Weisfogel, James Cook, Marilyn Bos, Sherab Khandro, Adele Seronde, Allen Powell, Ray Tigerman, Patricia Griffin, LauRha Frankfort, Michael Chesley Johnson, Syri Hall and Ali Mignonne and sculpture by Upton Ethelbah, Mike Medow and Lucius Upshaw - all artists that continue the tradition of expressing in their own unique way

Considered to be one of the quintessential landscape artists of the Southwest, JA (Jerry) Gorman's vibrant colors and impressionistic style compels collectors. His paintings have shown in international exhibitions in France, Mexico, and throughout the United States. Recipient of several awards in national and international shows, Gorman is in the permanent art collection of the International Space Hall of Fame, the Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Museum of Nuclear History and Science in Albuquerque, NM. Two Gorman murals are in the collection of the US Government and his paintings are in international private collections. Kevin McCarthy grew up in his father's studio, famed artist Frank McCarthy, and developed a deep passion for painting and sculpture.

At 15, he traveled to Italy, studied and was deeply moved by the works of Michelangelo and the Renaissance masters. He also studied under Jim Wheeler, a student of Rodin. Collectors have long appreciated Kevin's bronze sculpture at the Gallery. In June, in addition to sculpture, Kevin will be unveiling his new landscape series of paintings.

Gorman and McCarthy will be featured at Goldenstein's acclaimed Artists Coffee Talks in the Gallery series on Saturday, June 2 at 9:30 a.m. where guests are able to more personally connect with artists. And they will be painting in Goldenstein's Artists in Residence at L'Auberge de Sedona.

Sherab Khandro is a sculptor and pointillist painter. She was recently featured in Los Angeles in BudART, a special exhibit that highlights the work of artists whose art is a living representation of meditation and was a speaker this month at TEDxSedona.
