Iconic Musical RENT Opens At QPAC 4 May Raw, sexy and dangerous, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical RENT officially opens in Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC's) Cremorne Theatre on 4 May and will play to full houses until 20 May 2018.

The Jonathan Larson classic features popular hits such as Seasons of Love and Take Me or Leave Me. The multi-award winning musical follows the life of a group of friends struggling to make it in New York's East Village. This visceral performance shows the group dealing with heartbreak as they strive to fulfil their dreams, intertwined in the shadow of HIV and AIDS. Loosely based on Puccini's La Boheme, RENT first premiered over twenty years ago and it continues to deliver.

RENT Producer Matt Ward said audiences can anticipate a gritty and moving production showcasing the best of Queensland and national musical theatre talent.

"Such was the demand for this all new production of Jonathan Larson's ground breaking musical, we added additional performances to our season. We are thrilled that we will be playing to capacity houses at QPAC, as we follow on from the success of our sold-out presentation of RENT in 2017," said Mr Ward.

"Teaming up with our co-presenting partners QPAC and director Tim Hill, this enduring classic, RENT, which resonates with themes and messages that are deeply relevant today, has proven it is still the hottest ticket in town!"

Playing for a strictly limited season at QPAC until 20 May and with tickets going fast, don't miss this stunning new production of RENT - a must-see musical. To book go to qpac.com.au or phone 136-246.
