TV Exclusive: Meet the Company of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA Tour- Laurence Connor

BroadwayWorld just met the cast and you can check out an exclusive interview with director Laurence Connor below! Laurence started his career as an actor in which he took part in various plays, musicals and recordings. It was while performing in Les Miserablesthat he was asked to direct his first musical, A Slice of Saturday Night, which played for a one-night charity gala at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. Since then Laurence has worked as resident director on the award-winning production of The King and I at the London Palladium, which went on to a national UK tour that Laurence assisted in the direction of. It was from here that he went on to become the associate director of The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre, London. Laurence also worked alongside Rupert Goold as the Associate Director of Oliver! at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Recent credits include: Jesus Christ Superstar (UK and Australian Arena Tour), the entirely new stage production of The Phantom of the Opera (UK Tour), Oliver! (UK Tour) and the new version of Miss Saigon (UK Tour and Worldwide).

As Matthew Bourne's Assistant his work includes: Peer Gynt (RSC Barbican), Oliver! Mark was most recently seen in the world premiere musical of Treasure Island. He has toured the country clad in spandex covering all three fathers in the National Tour of Mamma Mia!and in a pinstriped suit in the National Tour of Guys & Dolls. He has performed in regional theatres across the country in a wide range of roles from Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof to El Gallo in The Fantasticks. Favorite roles include Beast (Beauty and the Beast), Sky (Guys & Dolls), Kent (King Lear), Harold Hill (The Music Man), Higgins (My Fair Lady) and many others, but he doesn't want to bore you.

The Tony Award Nominated Best Revival of a Musical and smash hit production of Tim Rice's and Andrew Lloyd Webber's EVITA opened earlier this month at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI. The national tour of EVITA stars Caroline Bowman (Kinky Boots) as Eva Peron, Tony nominated Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Che and Sean MacLaughlin (Woman in White) as Juan Peron. The cast also features Desi Oakley as the alternate for Eva, Christopher Johnstone as Magaldi and Krystina Alabado as the Mistress. Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group announced earlier today that their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera will launch a North American tour beginning this November in Providence, R.I at the Providence Performing Arts Center. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, the most successful musical of all-time, will play more than 20 multi-week engagements through next year, including Cincinnati, OH and Minneapolis, MN. A complete tour schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. First unveiled in March, 2012 in Plymouth, England, this reinvented PHANTOM has been an enormous box-office and critical hit throughout the U.K. Check out photos and highlights from the newly imagined production below!
