NBC's HAIRSPRAY LIVE will air Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will originate from Los Angeles. The all-star cast includes Harvey Fierstein as Edna Turnblad, Jennifer Hudson as Motormouth Mabel, Martin Short as Wilbur Turnblad, Derek Hough as Corny Collins, Ariana Grandeas Penny Pingleton, Andrea Martin as Prudy Pingleton and Kristin Chenoweth as Velma Von Tussle. Rosie O'Donnell and Sean Hayes will also make special appearances in the broadcast.

KINKY BOOTS producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig, along with Grammy and Tony Award-winner Cyndi Lauper and Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, are encouraging people to get out the vote on November 8th. Fierstein and Lauper surprised a recent audience at the Tony Award-winning musical, and joined the cast on stage for a reworked version of the show's Act 1 finale 'Everybody Say Yeah,' and then helped patrons register to vote. The 26th annual edition of BROADWAY BARES went live onstage last night at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom for two ratings-raising shows. BROADWAY BARES combines the naughtiness of burlesque with the glamour of Broadway. The event, which began in 1992, has become one of BC/EFA's signature events. The show was created by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (On Your Feet!, Kinky Boots), who serves as executive producer.

On this morning's TODAY it was announced that newcomer Maddie Baillio has been cast as teenager Tracy Turnblad in NBC's HAIRSPRAY LIVE. Harvey Fierstein, who will reprise his Tony Award-winning role as Edna Turnblad, introduced his fictional daughter and shared that he is currently working on the script which he says may be a little different than the film and stage version of the show. BroadwayWorld met with Baillio this morning at 30 Rock, where the star-to-be opened up about how she landed the role, her reaction upon receiving the news and more!

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place just last week in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including Alan Mingo Jr., who performed 'Hold Me In Your Heart' from KINKY BOOTS.
