The cast of the Off Broadway revival of Smokey Joes Cafe came to Broadway Sessions recently and blew the roof off The Laurie Beechman Theatre. These guys and gals have some of the best voices in the biz. The vibrant nine-member ensemble led by director choreographer Joshua Bergasse brings new life to more than 30 classic songs including 'Stand by Me,' 'I'm a Woman,' 'Hound Dog,' 'Fools Fall In Love,' 'On Broadway,' 'Yakety Yak,' 'Pearl's a Singer,' 'Treat Me Nice,' 'There Goes My Baby,' 'Love Potion #9,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' and 'Spanish Harlem.' Over the course of a 61-year partnership, Jerry Leiber (d. 2011) and Mike Stoller created enduring classics in a variety of genres including rhythm & blues, pop, country, jazz, cabaret, and-perhaps most notably-rock & roll. Elvis Presley and the Coasters are only two of the many acts whose careers skyrocketed because of Leiber and Stoller's creative partnership.

It's been a few weeks since the new Frozen song 'Monster' was released, but the song is still wowing listeners. The Oh My Disney Show gathered some Broadway favorites to watch Caissie Levy belt out her new Act Two solo. Juwan Crawley (Aladdin), Kara Lindsay (Newsies), Jelani Remy (The Lion King), and Kathryn Allison (Aladdin) reacted to the new song as the new musical moves through previews. Director Julie Taymor joins Susan Haskins-Doloff and guest co-host Donna Hanover of Arts in the City to look back at creating her masterpiece of musical theater, The Lion King (the most lucrative production in history), and reflect on how she herself responds to the work now, 20 years after it opened. The three are then joined by writer David Henry Hwang to discuss Taymor's new production of Hwang's Tony Award-winning play, M. Butterfly, which he has significantly rewritten for this Broadway revival. Also on the show, Jelani Remy, now playing the adult Simba in the The Lion King on Broadway, performs Endless Night, a song from the show with lyrics by Taymor.

Disney Theatrical has released the first video (of three) in partnership with Wildlife Conservation Society and the Bronx Zoo in celebration of World Lion Day. This video pairs Jelani Remy (Simba in The Lion King on Broadway) with Pat Thomas (Curator, Bronx Zoo) from the WCS team at the lion exhibit to discuss these animals along with the efforts in place to help protect and preserve the species and their habitat.
