Signature Theatre presents the Gershwins' & Ken Ludwig's musical comedy Crazy For You. This new production is directed by Signature Theatre's Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Signature's West Side Story, La Cage Aux Folles) with choreography by Tony Award nominee Denis Jones (Broadway's Holiday Inn, Honeymoon in Vegas). The August 4, 2016 show of Broadway in Bryant Park included a performance by the Broadway cast of An American in Paris. Cast members for the event included Dimitri Kleioris, Leanne Cope, Jill Paice, Brandon Uranowitz, Derek Hanson, Attila Joey Csiki, Kyle Brown, Megan Dickinson, Kurt Froman, Derek Hanson, Marina Lazzaretto, Cory Lingner, Nathan Madden, Charlotte O'Dowd, Candy Olsen, Kristin Piro, Sam Rogers, Shannon Rugani, Bradley Schlagheck, Jeffrey C. Sousa, Tory Trowbridge and Scott Willis performing the numbers 'Shall We Dance,' 'For You, For Me, For Evermore,' 'I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise,' and 'S Wonderful.'

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place on Friday June 3rd in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including AN AMERICAN IN PARIS' Garen Schribner, Brandon Uranowitz and Max von Essen, who performed 'S'Wonderful.'

AN AMERICAN IN PARIS director/choreographer Christopher Wheeldon was featured on Sunday night's 60 MINUTES, talking about how he's breaking new ground in dance and reinvigorating ballet by making it sensual, athletic and edgy. Wheeldon won a Tony for his choreography for PARIS, which combines musical theater dance with ballet moves. He also directed it - a first for him that caused some jitters. 'They probably couldn't see the sweat kind of trickling down the back of my neck,' he tells Stahl.

Today in 1992, Crazy for You opened at the Shubert Theatre, where it ran for 1622 performances. Crazy for You is a musical with a book by Ken Ludwig, lyrics by Ira Gershwin, and music by George Gershwin. Billed as 'The New Gershwin Musical Comedy', it is largely based on the songwriting team's 1930 musical, Girl Crazy, but interpolates songs from several other productions as well. Crazy for You won the 1992 Tony Award for Best Musical. The Broadway production was directed by Mike Ockrent and choreographed by Susan Stroman.The cast included Jodi Benson as Polly, Harry Groener as Bobby Child, Bruce Adler as Bela Zangler, John Hillner as Lank Hawkins, Michele Pawk as Irene Roth, Jane Connell as Mother, and Beth Leavel as Tess.
