On Wednesday, October 30th, the blockbuster musical WICKED will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on Broadway, a milestone achieved by only ten other Broadway productions in history. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book byWinnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. WICKED is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone. Below, composer/Lyricist Stephen Schwartz shares a message for all Wicked fans as the show celebrates this milestone!

The skill needed to adapt Gregory Maguire's novel into a stageable script takes both collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking. Working closely with the rest of the creative team, Wicked's book writer Winnie Holzman defined characters, built plot and weaved together themes to bring the story of Elphaba and Glinda to the stage. In honor of its 8th Anniversary on Broadway, the blockbuster musical Wicked treated its fans to a special 'Ultimate Encore' performance on Sunday, October 30th. Over 10,000 Wicked fans cast their votes online for their favorite song from the musical to be performed by the current Broadway cast for this one-time-only performance following this Sunday's matinee. The 'Ultimate Encore' performance was broadcast worldwide over Facebook that evening at 9pm for Wicked fans across the globe and features appearances by WICKED alumni, composer Stephen Schwartz & More!

Stephen Schwartz is arguably most widely known for his smash hit WICKED, which debuted in 2003 and still tops the weekly grosses to this day.
