As a prelude to the forthcoming Super Deluxe Edition of The Sound of Music, Craft Recordings has released a special alternate take of the film’s iconic duet “Something Good,” featuring never-before-heard original vocals from the legendary Christopher Plummer (whose vocals were dubbed in the film) alongside co-star Julie Andrews.

Audiences today may know her best as Mrs. Brice, but Broadway has known Tovah Feldshuh by many other names. She made her Broadway debut on May 13, 1973 in Cyrano alongside Christopher Plummer at the Palace Theatre. Since then, she has gone on to play some of Broadway's most iconic characters. It was a night full of Broadway and TV reunions for beloved stage and screen star Judith Light at the 2017 Monte Cristo Award ceremony earlier this week, presented by the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center and held for the first time at 583 Park Avenue. Light's LOMBARDI co-star Dan Lauria and 'Ugly Betty' co-star Michael Urie joined in on the celebrations, and Director Thomas Kail presented Light with her honor. 

Today in 1946, Cyrano de Bergerac opened at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre), where it ran for 193 performances. Cyrano de Bergerac is a play written in 1897 by Edmond Rostand. Although there was a real Cyrano de Bergerac, the play bears a very scant resemblance to his life. The entire play is written in verse, in rhyming couplets of 12 syllables per line, very close to the Alexandrine format, but the verses sometimes lack a caesura. Notable English-speaking Cyranos include Ralph Richardson, DeVeren Bookwalter, Derek Jacobi, Richard Chamberlain, and Christopher Plummer, who played the part in Rostand's original play and won a Tony Award for the 1973 musical adaptation. Kevin Kline played the role in a Broadway production in 2007. The play is currently in previews at the American Airlines Theatre, starring Douglas Hodge in the title role.

Harold Pinter's Old Times, directed by Douglas Hodge, is coming to Broadway as part of Roundabout's 50th anniversary season, starring Clive Owen, Eve Best and Kelly Reilly. The show will begin preview performances on Thursday, September 17, 2015, and open officially on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. This is a limited engagement through Sunday, November 29, 2015, on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre (227 West 42nd Street).
