On Day 29 of 30 Days of Tony, we're flashing back to the original, Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Once on This Island!

For Michael Arden, director of Once on This Island, this is more than another musical project. Arden has a personal connection to this story, which he shared yesterday on CBS News.

The Tony Nominated Broadway revival of Once On This Island, opened on December 3 at The Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street) to rave reviews. The new production is directed by Tony nominee Michael Arden, and choreographed by the critically-acclaimed Camille A. Brown.

Producers Ken Davenport and Hunter Arnold present Once on this Island, the Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated Best Musical, currently in previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre. They already have a hit running on 44th Street. As of this week, their music is filling another theatre just six blocks north. Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who have brought us such beloved shows as Ragtime and Anastasia, are taking us back to the Caribbean this season with the return of their 1991 musical, Once On This Island. While the duo was in tech, making final tweaks to the show before the start of previews, that stopped by Sardi's to chat with Richard Ridge about heading back to the island.
