The Tony Awards are like Christmas in June for theatre lovers, and that makes this year's nominees the reason for the season. This year's Tony nominees transported us with the magic of theatre, and we're saluting their work by taking a closer look at their extraordinary accomplishments. Today we're studying up on Beth Leavel and Brooks Ashmanskas!

This year's Stars in the Alley concert was held on May 10. Hosted by Alex Brightman, the celebration included performances and appearances by 2019 Tony Award-nominated performers including: Caitlin Kinnunen (The Prom), Sarah Stiles (Tootsie), as well as performances from 2019 Tony Award-nominated musicals including: Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations; Beetlejuice; Hadestown; Kiss Me, Kate; Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!; The Prom; and Tootsie.

Over the weekend, GLAAD, the world's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, welcomed Tony nominee Caitlin Kinnunen to perform The Prom's LGBTQ youth anthem 'Unruly Heart' with the NYC Youth Pride Chorus at the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that The Prom will perform at the WorldPride Closing Ceremony on June 30th in Times Square. Melissa Etheridge will headline the Closing Ceremony, which will also include performances by Jake Shears & MNEK. Additional talent will be announced in the weeks ahead.

From promposals to full-ensemble dance numbers, premiering today is the official music video for "YOU HAPPENED," a joyous group number from the hit Broadway musical THE PROM.  The video made its debut yesterday. With on-stage performance clips as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the cast in-studio, the video for "You Happened" is the perfect companion to the feel-good track - watch below! 

Six-time Emmy Award winner Ryan Murphy announced today on Instagram that he will host a special performance of THE PROM to benefit Hetrick Martin, GLAAD and The Trevor Project on Tuesday, April 9.

Just yesterday, The Broadway League celebrated Kids' Night on Broadway with its first-ever Pop-Up Photo Booth Experience in Times Square. Free and open to the public, the specially designed 260-degree, heated photo booth welcomed theatre fans and families to take pictures in Times Square before heading to their evening performances. Joey McIntyre, currently starring as Dr. Pomatter in Waitress, hosted the event, with Caitlin Kinnunen and Isabelle McCalla, both starring in The Prom, joining the fun as social media correspondents.

This week, the beloved Jason Robert Brown musical The Bridges of Madison County celebrates the fifth anniversary of its Broadway opening at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre! In honor of the occasion, we're throwing it back to the show's Broadway rehearsals with current Kiss Me Kate star Kelli O'Hara, Steven Pasquale, and more singing the lush Tony Award winning score!
