You oughtta know that Jagged Little Pill is officially in preview son Broadway!  The new musical is inspired by the themes and raw emotions laid bare in Alanis Morissette's seminal album of the same name. The Healys appear to be a picture-perfect suburban family - but looks can be deceiving. When the cracks beneath the surface begin to show, they must choose between maintaining the status quo or facing harsh truths about themselves, their community, and the world around them.

Mumford & Sons' official music video for their new single, “Woman,” is premiering today at Dance Magazine—watch below!  Filmed in New York by the band's long-standing collaborator James Marcus Haney, the video focuses on two young contemporary dancers—Stephanie Crousillat and Yeman Brown—for an intimate and expressive interpretation of the song. Dance Magazine spoke with band member Winston Marshall, choreographer Kristin Sudeikis and Brown about the unique collaboration, praising “the simplicity and intimacy of the atmosphere” and “Sudeikis' understated, touching choreography.”

The power and joy of dance and the human collective will be in the spotlight as City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) presents the collaborative dance company MG DanceArts in Amass today, October 26, at 7:30 p.m. Directed by dancer, choreographer and educator Marielis Garcia, Amass presents audiences with an interactive multidisciplinary performance featuring dance, music, sculpture and a good dose of audience participation. Born out of political strife, the piece is designed to help people with vastly different experiences reconnect as human beings through dance. As spectators become the performers, notions of the individual, the group, the past and the future will be tested and explored.

The Bessie Awards Announces 2017 Nominees

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, today announced the nominees for the 2016?17 season at the Bessies press conference. The nominees were selected by the Bessie Awards Selection Committee, an independent committee of 38 dance industry professionals. Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revived Work, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design. The list of nominations follows.
