Wakka Wakka's New Puppet Musical MADE IN CHINA Makes US Debut Tonight at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters will host the US premiere of MADE IN CHINA, written by Gwendolyn Warnock and Kirjan Waage (with help from the MADE IN CHINA ensemble), with music and lyrics by Yan Li, puppets by Mr. Waage, and directed by Ms. Warnock and Mr. Waage.

The University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) presents Michael Armitage / MATRIX 263, on view from December 14, 2016 through April 2, 2017. The exhibition features the lush paintings of London- and Nairobi-based artist Michael Armitage, who merges European styles with East African subjects, materials, and perspectives. MATRIX 263 debuts a new body of work in which Armitage reflects on sexuality and gender stereotypes in Kenya.

The innovative program, which was dubbed 'a theater camp for Broadway professionals' by Seth Rudetsky, and is aimed at developing new works, is in the process of workshopping two-time Harrington Award winning composer and librettist Adam Overett's CALL IT COURAGE, a musical adaptation of the beloved coming of age children's' novel.
