A MINISTER'S WIFE Makes World Premiere 5/19-7/19 At Writer's Theater

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the World Premiere of A Minister's Wife, a new musical adapted from George Bernard Shaw's Candida, conceived and directed by Michael Halberstam with musical direction by Richard Casey. A Minister's Wife was adapted by Austin Pendleton with music by Joshua Schmidt and lyrics by Jan Tranen.

MAN OF LA MANCHA Opens Season At Wayside Theatre Runs 6/6-7/4

Wayside Theatre Artistic Director Warner Crocker announced the 2009-2010 Season Opener, cast and performance schedule, Man of La Mancha. Man of La Mancha runs June 6 through July 4th. The musical is written by Dale Wasserman, Music by Mitch Leigh and Lyrics by Joe Darion.

Warner Crocker announced today the Young Performers Workshop 2009 Summer Camps will be offered and will be held at Youth Development Center (YDC) 3 Battaile Drive in Kernstown area of Winchester, VA. Thomasin Savaiano and Sarah Blackwell will be instructors and Steve Przybylski will be assisting Ms. Savaiano in the Musical Theatre camp.

Lee & Brown: LIGHTING THE FUSE Begins At Wayside 8/29

Wayside Theatre Artistic Director Warner Crocker announced today the performance of Robert E. Lee and John Brown; Lighting the Fuse in our 2009-2010 Season. This play with music is written by Crocker with music by Wayside Theatre resident composer Steve Przybylski. The production is one of the planned events for the 150th Anniversary of the John Brown 1859 Raid on Harpers Ferry. Robert E. Lee and John Brown; Lighting the Fuse begins performances on August 29 and close on September 26. The John Brown 150 Anniversary Quad State Committee is planning and coordinating events to commemorate the 1859 Raid on the Arsenal at Harper's Ferry, VA.

Wayside Theatre Clarifies Their History W/ The Wayside Inn

According to Artistic Director Warner Crocker, 'In light of the recent news that the Wayside Inn may be put up for auction we have seen some confusion among some of Wayside Theatre's customers. To be clear, the Wayside Inn and the Wayside Theatre are two separate business entities. While the future of the Wayside Inn is now being decided by the Bernstein family, the Wayside Theatre is not a part of that process and is not up for sale and will remain unaffected by whatever decisions are made regarding the Wayside Inn. Wayside Theatre is completing its 47th season of producing professional theatre, continuing the run of the critically acclaimed audience favorite, Southern Crossroads through March 14 and preparing for its next production Cotton Patch Gospel to open on March 21, while working towards the opening of its 48th season in June of 2009.

SOUTHERN CROSSROADS Replaces LIES AND LEGENDS At Wayside

Wayside Theatre's Artistic Director Warner Crocker is announcing a change in its 2008/09 Season Schedule. The next production was scheduled to be the musical review, Lies and Legends, the Songs and Stories of Harry Chapin. Instead of this offering, Crocker is programming an original musical piece of country and bluegrass flavor created just for Wayside Theatre called, Southern Crossroads. The production will star local musical sensation, Robbie Limon, and feature many of Wayside Theatre's favorite musical talents who have delighted audiences throughout the last several seasons. The performance is sponsored by Winchester Executive Suites, LLC.
