Composers Concordance presents Tin Pan Allegiances on Saturday, May 15th at 6pm at Michiko Studios in New York City. The concert commemorates and pays tribute to NYC's Tin Pan Alley, where publishers of zillions of popular songs had their offices. Songwriters associated with Tin Pan Alley included George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Jerome Kern, among many others.

On Site Opera is bringing music back to the streets of New York City with The Road We Came, a three-neighborhood musical walking tour that explores Black music history, May 1-July 31, 2021, in collaboration with Kenneth Overton, Kevin J. Miller, and Eric K. Washington.

Juliet Stevenson leads an all-star female cast in this streamed production of  Steven Carl McCasland’s dinner party drama, Little Wars.  Joining Stevenson are Linda Bassett Debbie Chazen, Natasha Karp, Catherine Russell, Sarah Solemani and Olivier-recipient Sophie Thompson.

Just in time for the holidays, The Joyce Theater Foundation (Linda Shelton, Executive Director) welcomes the return of the always-thrilling Dorrance Dance for three weeks of merriment and cheer. With a festive world premiere capping off each evening of three mixed-bill programs, Michelle Dorrance and her collaborators will play The Joyce Theater from December 17-January 5. Philadelphia Theatre Company welcomes back everyone's favorite princesses for a heart-warming afternoon and evening concert for the entire family. During A Dream Is A Wish: Holiday Princess Concert audiences will sing-along with a gathering of  princes and princesses from popular movie musicals and television shows in a one-day-only event on Sunday, December 16, at 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite prince or princess. After the show, the cast will host  a meet-and-greet reception with holiday cookies, apple cider and photo opportunities. The Holiday Princess Concert will take place at Philadelphia Theatre Company at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (480 S. Broad Street). PS CLASSICS, the label that celebrates the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, has released its groundbreaking new recording Philip Chaffin: Will He Like Me? today, Friday, November 9. Broadway award-winning star and concert star Christine Andreas will release her newest album Christine Andreas Piaf-No Regrets on PS Classics   on November 9th , 2018.  Christine is currently touring the U.S. and abroad with her much-acclaimed one-woman show Piaf, No Regrets.  This new CD was recorded in London this past summer with a 36- piece orchestra, conducted and orchestrated by Larry Blank and produced by Martin Silvestri. Singing both in English and in French, Andreas draws from her one-woman show, where she was   lauded by The New York Times...' Andreas's ravishing voice with its rapid vibrato, metallic edge…(and) snapping emotional electricity, has made her a potent interpreter of Piaf.'

Los Altos Hills will be alive with The Sound of Music this summer, when multi-award winning Foothill Music Theatre presents the Tony, Grammy, and Academy Award-winning musical. This beloved musical, set in Austria in 1938, follows novice Maria Rainer who becomes the governess for the von Trapp family, capturing the hearts of the seven children and their father, a widowed naval captain. As the Nazis occupy Austria, the family is forced make decisions which forever change their lives, fleeing their home in pursuit of freedom. Director Milissa Carey, music director William Liberatore, and choreographers Brett and C.J. Blankenship breathe new life into this classic tale of hope, love, and family. The Sound of Music will play July 19- August 5, 2018(press opening: July 20) at the Smithwick Theatre, I-280 & El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. On January 21st at 3:00pm, The Madison Theatre at Molloy College welcomes, Daniel Rodriguez, a New York City police officer turned acclaimed vocalist after his inspirational voice lifted the nation with his rendition of 'God Bless America' at 9/11 memorial ceremonies.

The Mabel Mercer Foundation announced this week that Adela and Larry Elow have established a $50,000 endowment fund, created specifically to 'encourage teenagers to learn and perform The Great American Songbook, as composed between the years 1900-1970.'

New York City Ballet's 'All Wheeldon' program, part of the Here/Now series on April 30, was, in most cases, a great success. Wheeldon is now a celebrity choreographer. He is followed everywhere, has received abundant awards for his ballets and Broadway productions. Together with Justin Peck and Alexander Ratmansky, all City Ballet past or present artists-in-residence, he has come to many to represent ballet's future, although what that future is remains a question mark.
