Old Globe Opens Season with World Premiere of HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL

The Old Globe today announced that its 2018-2019 Season will kick off with the world premiere of the new musical Heart of Rock and Roll, inspired by the songs of Huey Lewis and the News, featuring a book by Jonathan Abrams and story by Tyler Mitchell and Jonathan Abrams. It will be directed by Gordon Greenberg with choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Brian Usifer. Heart of Rock and Roll will bepresented by special arrangement with Tyler Mitchell, W. Leo Kiely, Bill Kiely, Whitney Kiely Moehle, and Tamar Climan. A Huey Lewis and the News Musical is In the Works

It was revealed today that a new musical inspired by the iconic songs of Huey Lewis and The News is coming to the stage. The book by Jonathan Abrams, based on an original story by Tyler Mitchell and Mr. Abrams, features chart-topping hits such as 'The Power of Love,' 'Stuck with You,' 'Hip to Be Square,' 'If This Is It,' and many more. Heart of Rock and Roll is directed by Gordon Greenberg.

The film centers Las Vegas magician-wonder Burt Wonderstone (Steve Carell) as he desperately attempts to reunite with his former partner Anton Marvelton (Steve Buscemi) to take on a dangerous street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey).
