Smuin Contemporary Ballet announces the next installment of its Hump Day Ballets series, brightening mid-week spirits with free video streaming of a hit ballet from Smuin's archives. This week's release, offered beginning Wednesday, April 22, 2020, will feature acclaimed choreographer Garrett Ammon's Serenade for Strings.

Smuin Contemporary Ballet's groundbreaking spring program will introduce the Bay Area to internationally renowned Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado, with the thrilling World Premiere of S-Quimera, combining flawless contemporary dance with Afro-Cuban and Latin social dances to create a piece truly unique to Smuin.

Houston Ballet will celebrate its 150th world premiere ballet during Forged in Houston this March. The mixed repertoire program includes three works created in Houston on Houston Ballet dancers: Christopher Bruce's Hush, Jorma Elo's ONE/end/ONE and the world premiere of Trey McIntyre's Pretty Things.

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, will present four world premieres in the culmination of Joffrey's national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications for the Joffrey Academy's Tenth Annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition. This year's Competition winners-Chanel DaSilva, Tsai Hsi Hung, Pablo Sánchez and Durante Verzola-each have choreographed an original work created on the Joffrey Academy Trainees and Studio Company. At an audition held on October 17, Adam Robert Dickerson and Shawn Lesniak were selected by Artistic Director Michael Novak to join the world-renowned Paul Taylor Dance Company. Quinton Guthier was chosen to join the acclaimed Taylor 2.
