Queen of British Soul and West End leading lady Beverley Knight stars in the world premiere of a brand new musical The Drifters Girl, with the sensational Adam J Bernard (Dreamgirls), Tarinn Callender (Hamilton), Matt Henry (Kinky Boots) and Tosh Wanogho-Maud (Showboat).

The World Premiere cast album for The Drifters Girl has been recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and is due for release on Friday 6 May 2022, by Tag8 Music, with BMG Rights Management (UK) Limited, Treadwell Entertainment Group and Showtime Productions Ltd.

The Drifters Girl – the brand new musical which tells the remarkable story of one of the world's greatest vocal groups and the woman who made them – is to extend its run at Garrick Theatre in London to Saturday 2 July 2022.

Adam J Bernard, Tarinn Callender, Matt Henry and Tosh Wanogho-Maud play The Drifters in a brand new musical also starring Beverley Knight, which tells the remarkable story of one of the world's greatest vocal groups and the woman who made them.

The Drifters Girl, despite that missing apostrophe, should be a smash-hit jukebox musical. A plethora of familiar hits, a remarkably talented cast and the inspiring story of Faye Treadwell, the African-American woman who took over as the group’s manager and steered them to global success despite legal battles, sexism and racism. In reality, the brilliant cast is not enough to disguise the lack of cogent storytelling and emotional engagement.

As theatre comes roaring back, this autumn and winter see plenty of exciting new productions, including big West End musicals and intriguing plays. Here are the shows that we’re most looking forward to seeing.

Tinker Bell the Musical is directed by Anna Fox with assistant director Ayoade Bamgboye, with Alice Fearn, Courtney Bowman, Oliver Savile, Miracle Chance, Tosh Wanogho-Maud, Patrick Munday, Charlie Kristensen, Beth Hinton-Lever, Gwion Morris Jones, Ying Ue Li, Faye Wheeler, Matthew Ellis and Harriet Caplan-Dean.

The show will feature a selection of some of the best loved songs from the genre, including medleys of classics from Gilbert & Sullivan and Rodgers & Hammerstein,  to more recent hits like You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen.

From the highs of hit records and sell out tours to the lows of legal battles and personal tragedy, The Drifters Girl charts the trailblazing efforts of the world's first African American, female music manager and how she refused to ever give up on the group she loved. Thirty years, and hundreds of hit songs later, there is no doubt that Faye Treadwell was and always will be, The Drifters Girl.
