Alex Newell Joins Cast of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR Concert Starring Shoshana Bean and Morgan James

Morgan James, Richard Amelius and Torya Beard present Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR in concert, featuring Broadway veterans and powerhouse vocalists, Morgan James (Motown: The Musical, Godspell, The Addams Family) and Shoshana Bean (Hairspray, Wicked) and Big Beat Records recording artist Alex Newell (Glee). The one- night-only female-centered concert of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera will be directed by Richard Amelius (Time Between Us, Empty City), with musical direction by Julie McBride (Amazing Grace, Finding Neverland). A cast of 13 singers will perform the complete score, accompanied by an all-female band. Full cast to be announced.
The Classical Theatre of Harlem Sets 2016 Season

The Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) (Ty Jones, Producing Artistic Director; David Roberts, Managing Director), will open its spring season with their 2nd Annual Spring Fundraiser, April 11, 2016. An intimate evening of music featuring the breathtaking vocals of Mykal Kilgore, most recently seen at CTH as Benny Raindrop in The Classical Theatre of Harlem's original musical, The First Noel at The Apollo Theater, and NBC's The Wiz Live. The Classical Theatre of Harlem's 2016 season is rounded out with its yearly free Uptown Shakespeare in the Park production of Macbeth in the summer, a new production of Fit For the Queen by renowned playwright Betty Shamieh, its ongoing monthly Reading Series, and the Apollo Theater mainstage production of The First Noel.
Encores! Off-Center Sets Pre-Show Lobby Project Events

The Lobby Project, a series of free pre-show events presented in conjunction with the third season of New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center series, will take place June 24 - July 18 at City Center. The events will place the Off-Center musicals in the context of their legacies and provide insightful explorations of the work the audience is about to experience.
