World premiere Starling comes to SODO's theLAB@INScape (home of the Satori Group) from June 6 through June 21, presented by the Confrontational Theater Project. In this intimate new drama by Samm Murphy and local playwright Julia Nardin, two estranged sisters rescue a German war correspondent during the last great conflict between Poland's resistance movement and occupying Nazi forces, and must choose between duty to their country and duty to the life they have inadvertently saved. Starling explores the fragility and fallibility of the human heart through the experience of women at war.

The vaudevillian characters of Tom Waits music will come to life on stage in A Concert of Tom Waits Songs presented by Arts Centre Melbourne tonight 24 and Saturday 26 April 8pm, 2014 at Arts Centre Melbourne's Fairfax Studio. After a nine-month sell-out run in New York, international cabaret star Stewart D'Arrietta will take audiences on a rollicking journey through Waits' legendary songs, accompanied by renowned Australian guitarist Ross Hannaford (Daddy Cool / the Black Sorrows / Goanna), double bassist Philip Rex and drummer Danny Fischer.

The Royal Philharmonic Society, through its Young Musicians Programme, has made a series of grants totaling £81,500 to young composers and performers, underlining the Society's commitment to encouraging and recognizing the next generation of talented young artists. Reflecting the many, and increasing, practical and artistic needs of music students and nascent professionals, the RPS Young Musicians' Programme provides wide- ranging support including: assistance with the purchase of instruments, enabling British instrumentalists to study abroad, support for outstanding young string players and organists, further study opportunity for singers, mentoring by leading classical artists for exceptional musicians at the start of their professional careers and support for young composers through special commissions.

The centerpiece will be a mass jam led by musical director Mark Stewart and a selection of "star guitarists" backed by a band of New York's finest session players, featuring tunes participants can download and practice prior to the show. Guests will enjoy brunch, craft beers and cocktails.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD PLAYHOUSE SCHOOL OF THE THEATRE will celebrate its 80th Anniversary with a gala and reunion for alumni, patrons, faculty and students of the renowned school which is one of the oldest theatre institutions in New York City. The celebration will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 6 PM at Tavern on the Green.
