Baltimore Choral Arts Presents LAND OF THE FREE, 11/3

Baltimore Choral Arts salutes the 1812 Anniversary and our national anthem, and presents the Baltimore premiere of Ysaye Barnwell's Fortune's Bones: The Manumission Requiem, on Saturday, November 3, at 8 pm in Goucher College's Kraushaar Auditorium.

Everyman Theatre's Founding Artistic Director to Speak at UMBC's Grand Opening, 9/19

Vincent Lancisi, Artistic Director and Founder of Baltimore's Everyman Theatre, will speak at the University of Maryland Baltimore County's Grand Opening of the new Performing Arts and Humanities Building on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Mr. Lancisi will be a part of the New Space presentation, scheduled to take place at UMBC's new building from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

Annual Trustus Theatre Presents Vista Queen Pageant Tonight, 5/21

Trustus Theatre will crown its 14th Vista Queen tonight, May 21st at the theatre located at 520 Lady Street in the Vista. The annual drag pageant fundraiser starring local men features six men vying for the title. This year's theme is (Vista) Queen of the Night, a tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The event is sponsored by Revente and Revente's Last Call.

Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Baltimore Choral Arts Society in a concert featuring popular favorites from musicals such as Les Miserables and Miss Saigon on Thursday, April 19 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, Friday, April 20 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 21 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Entitled "Do You Hear the People Sing," this program celebrates music by two of the world's most prolific writers of modern musical theatre, Alain Boublil and Claude?Michel Schonberg, whose masterpiece Les Miserables is the longest?running musical in the world. Old Globe's Board of Directors Confirms Dual Leadership Structure

The Old Globe's Board of Directors today named Michael G. Murphy as Managing Director. Murphy was appointed Interim Managing Director in October 2011 after the resignation of CEO/Executive Producer Louis G. Spisto, who oversaw both the artistic and administrative operations of the theatre.

AlbertHall&Associates to Conduct Search for Globe's Artistic Leadership

The Old Globe's Board of Directors today announced that theater executive search firmAlbertHall&Associates (AHA) has been retained to conduct a nationwide search for artistic leadership for the Globe. The Globe's Transition Committee, chaired by Vice Chair Elaine Bennet Darwin, will work closely with AHA throughout the search process over the coming months.

Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner served as presenters and 2011 Spirit Awards host Joel McHale was also on hand. Nominees for Best Feature include 127 Hours, Black Swan, Greenberg, The Kids Are All Right and Winter's Bone.
