The New Group has announced the company’s 2022-23 Season, to include the following productions: Evanston Salt Costs Climbing, by Will Arbery, directed by Danya Taymor; The Seagull/Woodstock, NY, by Thomas Bradshaw, adapted from Chekhov, directed by Scott Elliott; and Bernarda’s Daughters, by Diane Exavier, directed by Dominique Rider.  T

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the return of Music Mondays; the hit summer cabaret series that invites renowned artists and Tony Award-winners to perform for audiences and share stories of their time on and off the stage.

A Spring Celebration “Dionysia,” benefiting The New Group, is set to take place Monday, June 6 from 6:00-9:30pm at Guastavino's (409 East 59th Street).  This event will honor playwright Donja R. Love and New Group Board Members Jana Shea and Anita Waxman with the Mimi and Michael Mendelson Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theater. 

The 37th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway was presented on Sunday, May 1, 2022 and we have the full list of winners and nominees!

New artists to join the ‘Words + Music’ include Mariah Carey, singer-songwriter Aimee Mann, rock legend Carlos Santana, singer, songwriter, and record producer Beck, The Who's guitarist and principal songwriter Pete Townshend, comedy rock duo, Tenacious D, comprised of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, and rapper and actor yasiin bey.

Together with supporters and partners, MENTOR will host Amplify Mentoring, a Celebration of Connection & Possibility, to reflect on collective achievements in the field of mentoring, recognize champions of the movement, and celebrate the resiliency of young people and the mentors and leaders who support them.

Nominations for the 37th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were announced today by theatre veterans Lilli Cooper and Lea DeLaria, stars of Broadway’s POTUS. With COVID safety in mind, rather than having one host and multiple presenters, this year the Awards will be handed out by a few Host/Presenter pairs on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at NYU Skirball beginning at 7:00pm EST. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by TDF.

Netflix has shared the 'Green Green Dress' deleted scene from tick, tick BOOM! The new scene features Andrew Garfield and Alexandra Shipp. The track, which is included in Jonathan Larson's stage musical, was cut from the recent Netflix film adaption directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Last night on the Red Carpet of the Director's Guild of America Awards, a Variety reporter asked Lin-Manuel Miranda his thoughts on directing a Broadway revival of Tick, tick...BOOM! The star of stage and screen recently directed the movie adaptation of the Jonathan Larson musical, which was released on Netflix to critical acclaim in November, 2021. 

At last night's SAG Awards, star Andrew Garfield, currently making the awards season rounds for his portrayal of Jonathan Larson in tick, tick...BOOM!, expressed his desire to return to Broadway, this time in a musical!

BOOM! is the autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson, who revolutionized theater as the creator of Rent. The film marks the directorial debut of Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute today announced that six rising MCs have been selected to participate in a free master class led by legendary hip-hop artist Black Thought from April 4-7, 2022 as part of the Hall’s ongoing series of workshops and master classes for young professional musicians.

Carter, Jennifer Damiano, Brandon Victor Dixon, Ryan Fitzgerald, Gaelen Gilliland, Polanco Jones Jr., Zachary Daniel Jones, Tamika Lawrence, Sarah Meahl, Howard McGillin, Mary Page Nance, Oneika Phillips, Nicholas Ranauro, Malaiyka Reid, Mars Rucker, Angela M. Sauers, Tracy Shayne, Theo Stockman, Ephraim Sykes, Tariq 'Black Thought' Trotter, Akron Watson, Nyla Watson, Edward Watts and Lillias White.

Under their newly created audio production banner SBH Productions, the two superstar talents will bring five new projects to Audible listeners in 2022, all of which supports the overall vision of the development deal to give rise to Black creatives and create content that speaks to the culture. Nicole Shelton is head of production for the company.

Tick, Tick...Boom! has released the song 'Sextet Montage' playing in the film during the workshop of Superbia, in honor of Jonathan Larson’s 62nd birthday. The song features Gizel Jimenez and Joshua Henry.
