David De Silva, the man behind the creation of one of pop culture's most enduring tales of the individual's creative struggle for self-expression - known the world over as the film and stage musical, Fame - arrives in Tennessee today for the opening of Circle Players' regional premiere of Fame Forever: Talent Springs Eternal, which opens at Middle Tennessee State University's Tucker Theatre for a one-weekend run.

Dance of the Vampires (or Tanz der Vampire as the original German language version is named) is a musical remake of a 1967 Roman Polanski film of the same name (called The Fearless Vampire Killers in the USA). Polanski also directed the original German production of this musical. Music was composed by Jim Steinman and orchestrated by Steve Margoshes, and original German book and lyrics were written by Michael Kunze. Choreographer Jacqulyn Buglisi, with members of the Buglisi Dance Theatre company, is creating a new ballet entitled Born Forever, an original dance piece with music inspired by Fame The Musical and its sequel Fame Forever.

There's a lot more to the story of Evan, Steinman and DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES than may seem at first bite. In this exclusive conversation, Evan and I discuss his many stage and concert appearances, as well as his extensive studio work - including BATMAN and many new, unheard compositions - with the resplendent and reclusive rock icon known to friends as just Jimmy. Back by popular demand, SOUL DOCTOR: The Shlomo Musical, a theatrical production celebrating the life and music of Shlomo Carlebach, will return to New Orleans for a limited engagement at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, before heading to Broadway in 2011.

Despite the success of Fame on both the big and small screens, David De Silva's heart was on the stage. The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) will present its eleventh annual All-City Musical, FAME The Musical to crown the District's 2009-10 series of All-City Arts Programming. The production features the talents of over fifty CMSD students from across the District and will take place on the stage of the Ohio Theatre at PlayhouseSquare, June 4 - 6, 2010.
