“Leave it vague leave it dark” says Samuel Beckett’s character Pim in How It Is. Now, after two years of delay and Zoom rehearsals, Irish theatre company Gare St Lazare bring Part 2 to the Coronet Theatre accompanied by the Irish Gamelan Orchestra.

The Samuel Beckett specialists, Gare St Lazare Ireland have staged Beckett's 1964 novel How It Is over six years. Last month, they reimagined the entire novel for film and they will stream it as part of Dublin Theatre Festival 2021 (Oct 1- 7 2021).

Actors Stephen Dillane, Conor Lovett, and award-winning Irish company Gare St Lazare return to The Coronet Theatre with the UK premiere of How It Is (Part Two), the second stand alone part of a three part staging of Beckett's novel, following the success of Part One in 2018 '... you experience moments of pure wonder, when all sense of time and space disappears and you enter a strange, other world, with Beckett whispering cool truths in your ear.' The Coronet Theatre will present a season of cross-art international theatre in the Spring of 2020. Work comes from Germany with The Berliner Ensemble, the UK with Brian Friel directed by John Haidar, and France and Ireland from Gare St Lazare with Samuel Beckett.

Casting is announced today for a workshop reading of new British musical Papadopoulos!, which will take place at The Other Palace on Tuesday 26 November.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organization to 842 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.

The rare presence of Hollywood star Cate Blanchett on a London stage has caused a box office frenzy, but sadly this would-be provocative vehicle - Martin Crimp's loose variations on Samuel Richardson's 1740 proto-novel Pamela, directed by Katie Mitchell - isn't worthy of her talents, nor those of the excellent Stephen Dillane.

They are joined on stage by Babirye Bukilwa, Jessica Gunning, Emma Hindle and Craig Miller.

Richard Twyman will direct Gabriel Akuwudike, Roseanna Frascona, Michael Gould, Tom Mothersdale, Lizzy Watts and Hara Yannas in Martin Crimp's psychological thriller and disturbing satire on real estate Dealing with Clair, in a co-production with English Touring Theatre.
