BWW Review: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Phenomenal at Spinning Tree Theatre in Kansas City
by Steve Wilson
- Apr 26, 2015
As spectacular as the lights of the Aurora Borealis, that is how Spinning Tree Theatre lit up the stage on opening night of Fiddler on the Roof at the Just Off Broadway Theatre. Jerry Bock wrote the music, Sheldon Harnick the lyrics, and Joseph Stein the book for Fiddler on the Roof, a musical based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and others stories written by Sholem Aleichem.

BWW Reviews: Musical Theater Heritage's OLIVER! Steals the Hearts of Kansas City
by Steve Wilson
- Dec 7, 2014
It amazes me how a musical performed with little or no scenery, props, or costumes, and on a small intimate stage can become one of the preeminent shows of the season. That is exactly what Oliver! accomplished on opening night Saturday December 6 at the Off Center Theatre in Kansas City. This achievement speaks volumes to the creative team of Musical Theater Heritage that labored to near perfection.
BWW Review: MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT- Campy Hilarious Fun Opens at the White Theatre
by Steve Wilson
- Jul 13, 2014
One of the best musical comedies to reach a Kansas City stage this season opened on Saturday July 12 at the White Theatre. Steven Eubank directs Monty Python's Spamalot, with book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, and music direction by Pam Williamson. Eubank appears to be a comedic genius in his direction of campy stage plays. Working with an extremely talented cast, he puts together a hilarious production reminiscent of one of the funniest movies of all times, Airplane!.
