BWW Interview: Andrea Unger, Lydia McCleary, Sara Youcheff, Jessica Crowe of JANE EYRE at DreamWrights Center For Community Arts
by Andrea Stephenson
- Feb 3, 2018
Free and self-reliant, the title character of Jane Eyre has been studied in English and Literature classes for many years. Charlotte Bronte's novel was published in 1847 and, with its elements of social critique, explorations of morality and classism, and hints toward modern feminism, Jane Eyre has found its rightful place in the canon of classic literature. Today you can find adaptations of the classic novel on the screen and stage. At DreamWrights Center for Community Arts in York, Jane Eyre comes to life on the main stage. As one of the cast members noted, 'It's definitely different from the book and any of the movies.' I had the opportunity to speak with three of the actors and the guest director prior to seeing the show. Keep reading to get a behind-the-scenes look at Jane Eyre from the perspective of these actors as well as some tidbits from my experience of opening night.

by Benjamin Tomchik

Part history lesson, party fantasy, all-around study of when the American dream goes disastrously wrong, NextStop Theatre's aim is ambitious with Assassins and they not only hit the target, they nail the bullseye.

BWW Review: ASSASSINS at Pallas Theatre Collective
by Elliot Lanes
- Oct 10, 2017
Any musical theatre geek knows that Stephen Sondheim's central subjects for musicals are rarely light and fluffy individuals. Sweeney Todd has a barber who slits people's throats and Sunday in the Park with George has a painter who is a perfectionist and egomaniac.

For the second year in a row the Pink Lady Jackie Goldberg presented an attention-grabbing Senior Talent Competition. BWW Review: ASSASSINS Musically Explores the Minds of Those Who Attempted to Assassinate the President of the United States
by Shari Barrett
- Sep 28, 2016
The great genius of contemporary musical theater, creator of Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods and Company, Stephen Sondheim leads audiences on a tuneful revue of presidential assassins and would-be killers from John Wilkes Booth to John Hinckley. The performance is guided by the Proprietor (brilliantly portrayed by Will Shure) who takes you through a most unusual musical history lesson in the form of a carnival game called "Shoot the Prez - Win a Prize" during which the sounds of each era accompany riveting portrayals of history's most impassioned and deranged. Thought-provoking and darkly delightful, ASSASSINS won five Tony Awards in its first revival on Broadway and remains one of the most controversial Broadway musicals ever written.
