In anticipation of the gala 30th anniversary celebration of The First Night Awards, Tennessee's best and brightest in live theater were revealed tonight as First Night's Top Ten of 2018 - reviewer and critic Jeffrey Ellis' annual recognition for theater in the Volunteer State - were announced during a Facebook Live presentation from Nashville.

Looking ahead, you'll find a number of new productions on tap for your entertainment pleasure, including a number of holiday season offerings to put you in the Christmas spirit, thanks to the efforts of theater companies all over Middle Tennessee. Five time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb (Maria Striar, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah McLellan, Managing Director; Michael Bulger, Associate Artistic Director) has announced the winners of the seventh Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission. Playwrights Angela Hanks and Gabrielle Reisman will split the $15,000 award, each also receiving two years of development support. Three finalists were also named: Gracie Gardner, Daniel Glenn and Paul Cameron Hardy, each of whom will receive a $1,000 award and an opportunity to workshop their plays.

Provo, Utah is home to such successful musical acts as Imagine Dragons and Neon Trees. Also from the area are THE BROCKS who release their self-titled debut album THE BROCKS today (September 22) on Kaskade's Arkade label.

On Monday, July 24, 2017, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization who for the past 13 years has been dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2017 nominees at its annual event, The IT Party.

Abingdon Theatre Company continues its Ghostlight Reading Series with readings of THE SUBJECT by Chisa Hutchinson and directed by Jade King Carroll on Monday, June 5th at 7pm and CARLO AT THE WEDDING by Bryna Turner and directed by Jenna Worsham on Monday, June 12th at 7pm.

Nominated for 15 Drama Desk Awards and 4 Tony Awards, this musical is based on the hit 1980 movie featuring Violet, Judy and Doralee. They live out their wildest fantasy - kidnapping their sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigoted boss! While Hart remains 'otherwise engaged,' the women give their workplace a dream makeover taking control of the company. 

SPACE on Ryder Farm, a non-profit artist residency program located on Ryder Farm, an idyllic 221 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, NY, announces its lineup for the 2017 Working Farm Reading Series to be held at Playwrights Horizons in New York City April 3-7, 2017. All readings are free, and farm-fresh bites inspired by the plays and prepared by SPACE chefs will be served at each reading.

Today's guests are Solea Pfeiffer and Ryan Vasquez. The two of them are about to go out on the national tour of HAMILTON with Solea performing as the role Eliza. We talk about their time in college at the University of Michigan and opportunities that have lead to their present success. We also talk about how they found out they booked HAMILTON and a whole bunch more!

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with NJPAC's annual Celebration, "Keeping the Dream" on Today, January 14th at 5pm.  This private presentation will honor two distinguished members of the Newark Metropolitan community who take action and live the words of the great Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. making a difference in the community where they work and live. This year's honorees are Gloria Hopkins Buck, LCSW who will receive the "Steward of the Dream" award and Ryan P. Haygood, Esqwho will be the recipient of the "Visionary of the Future" award. The celebration will include a special performance by NJPAC's Jazz for Teens and the Grammy Award winning Jubilation Choir who under the leadership and tutelage of Rev. Dr. Stefanie Minatee has released six albums.

SPACE on Ryder Farm will present Taylor Mac's A 24-Decade History of Popular Music: 1986-2016, August 6 & 7 at 7 PM. Music Director Matt Ray will join Mac for the work-in-progress performances, which span three decades from Mac's wildly ambitious, multi-year effort to chart the history of popular music in America, from the nation's founding in 1776 to the present day.
