The Winter Park Playhouse continues to delight audiences with their latest hit in a series of professional musicals with the Florida premiere of Life Could Be A Dream, a high-energy jukebox musical comedy set in the early 1960's.

With so many great performances and classes throughout Orlando, the next logical step would increase our national arts footprint by fostering new work. That's where Winter Park Playhouse's Florida Festival of New Musicals comes in.

Popular performer and locally celebrated cabaret artist , Janine Klein, premieres her latest solo cabaret, Nobody Does It Better, in The Winter Park Playhouse Spotlight Cabaret Series September 20 and 21. Ms. Klein will be accompanied by Playhouse Musical Director Christopher Leavy on the piano. 

The first ever New Musical Festival comes to Orlando this week at Winter Park Playhouse. If you've ever wondered where musicals are born, this is how. With the help of arts organizations like Winter Park Playhouse, musical creators can refine their pieces and use it as a stepping stone towards publication. Orlando is quite the creative place and having a new musical festival fits right in. I took a moment to chat with Roy Alan, who serves as the Artistic Director for Winter Park Playhouse about the festival.

The Winter Park Playhouse will present another popular 'One-Night-Only' event, Saturday October 21,2017 at 7:30p.m. featuring David Jericko and The Crew, who will perform Solitary Man: A Tribute to Neil Diamond. Net proceeds will go to support the quality musical programming on The Playhouse Mainstage and out in the community.

???????The Winter Park Playhouse Spotlight Cabaret Series will feature the smoky vocals of DeeJay Young in his new solo cabaret, Waving Through A Window, August 9 and 10, 2017. DeeJay Young is an internationally recognized recording artist who has recently released his latest EP, Unplugged, which soared to the top 100 albums chart on U.S. and Japan iTunes.

Murder is always entertaining in musical theater. The construct is usually surrounds a detective and his quest to find the suspect. MURDER FOR TWO takes that to an extreme with just two men playing all roles in this murder mystery. They also accompany themselves on the piano. It's tiring, entertaining, and astounding to watch.

It's the season of graduations and as high schoolers head off to college, it great to look back on all they've accomplished. Two local theater teens, Jasmine Forsberg and Tony Moreno are moving on to the next steps in their training and theater careers, but before they do they will perform in a Winter Park Playhouse Spotlight Cabaret. I had a chance to catch up with Jasmine and Tony as they prepare.

'Why Do Fools Fall in Love?' takes us back to the year 1966 to our protagonist, Millie's impromptu bachelorette party thrown by her friends Sally, Florence, and Dee Dee (who tags along, but is quickly adopted into the friend group).  The evening kicks off with alcohol, gossip, alcohol, junk food, and oh, did I mention? More alcohol.  Trouble begins to arise in paradise when Sally reveals that she sent Millie an anonymous note with some troubling news regarding her fiance.  Hilarity, arguing, and lots and lots of singing ensues, and we are left with a strong impression of the 'sisters before misters' mantra.  That is, guys will come and go, but best friends last forever.

The Winter Park Playhouse brings to life the musings and music of English playwright, composer, master-of-all-things theater Noel Coward. As a playwright, many of Coward's works still make their way into modern theater repertoire including BLITHE SPIRIT, PRIVATE LIVES and many more. A MARVELOUS PARTY is a light show that strings together songs and anecdotes written by Coward. Though slightly high-brow, I like to think of his work as observational satire and a peek into the life of a successful theater genius.
