The Italian Cultural Center of Minneapolis/St. Paul (ICC) and Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Chicago present The Great Duel Between Orlando and Rinaldo for the Beautiful Angelica's Sake by the famed Italian puppet theatre company Associazione Figli d'Arte Cuticchio. This evening of captivating entertainment for all ages will be on stage for one night only on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7:30pm at Illusion Theater, located on the eighth floor of the Cowles Center for Dance & The Performing Arts at 528 Hennepin Ave. in downtown Minneapolis.

Sandglass Theater's New Visions Puppetry Series welcomes the return of Finn Campman's Of Bread and Paper. This evocative piece, which played to sold-out audiences at the 2012 Puppets in the Green Mountains festival, invites you to enter a world of light and shadow where layers of meaning are glimpsed and gradually revealed. Performances are Friday and Saturday, October 11th and 12th at 7:30pm. Tickets are $16 general and $13 for students and seniors.

La MaMa Experimental Theater Club, which for over 50 years has produced a uniquely global array of experimental theater, dance, performance art, and music, launched CultureHub in 2009 with its longtime partner the Seoul Institute of the Arts. La MaMa founder Ellen Stewart was a pioneering force in the movement behind the now-commonplace black box theater, an architectural shift that revolutionized the performing arts. CultureHub builds upon Stewart's legacy of innovation, implementing state-of-the-art telepresence technology to transform the black box for a new century and bring artists and audiences from various international locations together in performance, without having to be in the same physical space.

In 1962, when Ellen Stewart invited puppet artists from Korea, La MaMa began a long love affair with all things puppetry. The form has been an integral part of La MaMa's artistic vision for more than a half-century. The institution demonstrates the depth and breadth of its commitment with the La MaMa Puppet Series 2013, which, for three weeks (November 7 - 24), fills all three La MaMa theaters with a wide array of productions-both emerging and established artists, from countries around the world, offering something for theatergoers of all ages.

Two years into its second half-century, La MaMa, under the artistic direction of Mia Yoo, continues the omnivorous work of its founder, the late Ellen Stewart. The institution's fall 2013 season is a mixture of established artists and forms La MaMa has long supported (Lee Breuer, Dario D'Ambrosi, puppetry) and celebrated artists and programs new to La MaMa (Irina Brook, Chiori Miyagawa and Alice Reagan, Pascal Rambert, Maureen Fleming, Dan Fishback and Max Steele, and many others). In Rehearsal for a Sicilian Tragedy, actor John Turturro (O Brother Where Art Thou?, Barton Fink, Do the Right Thing) takes audiences on a haunting, intimate journey to his maternal homeland of Sicily. There, while exploring the island's vanishing traditions, he is taken under the wing of one of the puppet theater's few remaining practitioners, Mimmo Cuticchio, who instructs him in the distinctively Sicilian art of puppetry.
