Based on Richard Powers' novel of the same name, The Time of Our Singing interlockspersonal experiences with historical events whose themes show clear parallels with the recent history of the USA: Black Lives Matter, police brutality and rigged elections accompany the brothers Jonah and Joey Strom on their path through life. Against the background of racial segregation in post-war America, the opera tells of the life of a family with a black mother and a white father.

THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT ~ a play of consequence, superbly directed by Richard Powers Hardt and featuring stellar performances by Tom Koelbel, Jake Nichols, and Debra Rich, runs through February 5th at Theatre Artists Studio in Scottsdale AZ.

The world premiere of Tod Machover’s Overstory Overture, featuring Joyce DiDonato, will take place on March 7, 2023 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York.

 Opera San José, in association with the Packard Humanities Institute, will host the international operatic conducting debut of prodigy composer/musician Alma Deutscher, who will take the podium for a lavish production of her landmark opera, Cinderella. Based on the classic fairytale, this family-friendly work is reset at an opera company run by a scheming stepmother, in which the title character is a brilliant composer laboring as a lowly copyist.

Theater Works’ 37th season offers a diverse lineup of live theater productions for kids, families and adults through its Main Stage, After Dark and Youth Works productions.

Over 50 artists, some returning and others making their debut, will arrive in Michigan this summer for the return of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. From June 10 to 25, the Festival will host a series of chamber music concerts, workshops, artistic discussions and community events across metro-Detroit.

Tod Machover's visionary opera Schoenberg in Hollywood, will have its European Premiere at the Vienna Volksoper on April 9, with performances through April 24. (The premiere was originally scheduled for April 2020, but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)

Today, the Grammy-nominated, Twin Cities-based trio Semisonic released the official video for 'You're Not Alone,' the group's first new song in nearly 20 years. The single is the title track from their forthcoming five-song EP You're Not Alone out on September 18 via Pleasuresonic Recordings/Megaforce Records.

The show runs through September 1st at The Studio in Scottsdale, AZ.
