Revised tour dates have been announced for The Greatest Play in the History of the World… starring multi-award winning, BAFTA nominated actress Julie Hesmondhalgh. The play, which had been due to open at Hull Truck Theatre on Friday 29 January & tour until Saturday 20 March is now planned to open on Friday 7 May & tour until Saturday 3 July 2021.

Performed by multi-award winning, BAFTA nominated actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, Greatest Play in the History of the World takes us on a heartfelt journey that starts and ends in a small, unassuming house on a quiet suburban road. Julie narrates this story of two neighbours and the people on their street, as she navigates us through the nuances of life, the possibilities of science and the meaning of love.

Full Casting Announced For Royal Exchange's THE PRODUCERS

The full company for the Royal Exchange Theatre's brand-new production of THE PRODUCERS, directed by Raz Shaw, has been announced today. Joining Julius D'Silva and Stuart Neal who play the wonderfully bizarre double act Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom, are MATILDA's Ms Trunchbull Charles Brunton (Roger De Bris), Hammed Animashaun, (Carmen Ghia), Dale Meeks (Franz Liebkind), Emily-Mae (Ulla) and an ensemble of 11 multi-talented actors. This wickedly funny, outrageous love letter to the Broadway musical builds upon the Exchange's growing reputation for reinventing celebrated musicals for its unique in-the-round theatre. Raz is joined by Choreographer Alistair David and Musical Supervisor Caroline Humphris. Featuring show-stopping songs such as Springtime for Hitler and When You Got It Flaunt It the production runs from 30 November 2018 - 26 January 2019.

Yesterday UK Theatre gave out awards to leading talents in performing, producing and theatre management throughout the United Kingdom. Sheffield Theatres' SHOW BOAT and FLOWERS FOR MRS HARRIS together took Best Musical Production, while Clare Burt picked up a performance award for the former and Rebecca Trehearn for the latter. Charlene James won Best New Play for CUTTIN' IT, and Paapa Essiedu Best Performance In A Play for the Royal Shakespeare Company's HAMLET.

George Bernard Shaw's short comedies HOW HE LIED TO HER HUSBAND, OVERRULED, and VILLAGE WOOING will be directed by Polina Kalinina (Assistant Director, The Seagull, Southwark Playhouse; Dutchman, Orange Tree). Wilmington Theatre was set up in 2012 by two LAMDA graduates, Lucy Hough and Leo Wyndham. The cast features Jasmine Hyde (Muswell Hill, The Orange Tree, Sam Walters; A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's Globe, Raz Shaw) and Jim Creighton (Desire Under the Elms, Lyric Hammersmith, Sean Holmes; Flare Path, The Tempest, Haymarket, Trevor Nunn).
