Audra McDonald Breaks Billboard Records with LADY DAY Album!

PS Classics' Original Broadway Cast Recording of Audra McDonald in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill topped four of the Billboard Charts in its first week of release: #1 in Cast Albums, #1 in Jazz, #1 in Traditional Jazz and #1 in Heatseekers. According to Billboard, the album is McDonald's highest-charting solo release ever.

Roundabout's VIOLET with Sutton Foster Gets Cast Recording; PS Classics to Release 2-Disc Set in June

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that PS Classics will record the cast album of VIOLET on April 7, 2014. This Original Broadway Cast Recording, a two-disc set, will be released on June 3. The production is currently playing at the American Airlines Theatre through August 10, 2014.

Bristol Riverside Theatre kicks off the holiday season with Winter Musicale on December 5-15, 2013. This family program presents favorite holiday songs from yesterday and today, including traditional carols, popular classics, contemporary arrangements and original songs to celebrate the spirit of the season. Directed by Keith Baker, the program features BRT favorites Philip Chaffin, Anthony D'Amato, Robert Farruggia, Laura Giknis, Jessica Gruver, Elyse Langley, Meera Mohan, and Sean Thompson, joined by Keith Baker and the BRT Concert Band.

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's award-winning professional theatre company, concludes their 2012/2013 Season with Cole: An Entertainment Based on the Words and Music of Cole Porter. The musical revue runs tonight, April 19 - May 12 at MTC Studio Theatre in Westport Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with matinees Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage of Broadway and American popular song, released the two-disc set Broadway cast album of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed revival of FOLLIES on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Since then, the Metropolitan Museum of Art requested permission from PS Classics to include "Broadway Baby" in an upcoming compilation disc. Because the track on the New Broadway Cast Recording includes brief reprises of other tunes, Jayne Houdyshell kindly went back into the studio to record a new solo ending.

On Thursday, December 1st, Stephen Sondheim, Bernadette Peters, Jan Maxwell, Danny Burstein, Ron Raines, Elaine Paige and other members of the cast of FOLLIES will sign copies of the album at Barnes & Noble (150 E. 86th St; between Lexington & 3rd Ave.) beginning promptly at 4:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. The album is produced by Tommy Krasker.

Renaud tonight, Tuesday April 5. Also at tonight's performance, Heather Lindell (Hairspray) assumes the role of Anne and Ashley Kate Adams joins the cast as Colette. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES recently re-opened to rave reviews for its new stars four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Albin) and two-time Tony Award-nominee Christopher Sieber (Georges) and is playing at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).

Four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein will be featured tomorrow, Wednesday, March 30 on 'The Wendy Williams Show.' Fierstein won a 1984 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for the original production of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Now, 28 years later, he is starring as Albin in the Tony Award-winning revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street), which just re-opened to rave reviews.
