All the world's a mall in this popular musical adaptation of Shakespeare's As You Like It, Sammy Buck and Daniel S. Acquisto's 1980s-style Like You Like It. A totally awesome mix of Shakespeare and John Hughes, this romantic musical comedy enjoys its second chance at a first full New York production after being an audience favorite at NYMF in 2004.

Author Ellis Nassour hosted an event to celebrate his book, Honky Tonk Angel: The Intimate Story of Patsy Cline, updated edition (Chicago Review Press, 2008), and to honor the birthday and life of a country music legend. The event took place on Monday, September 8, 2008 at Barnes & Noble (Lincoln Square, 972 Broadway, New York, NY 10023). Nassour was interviewed about Cline's life and his book Honky Tonk Angel by respected theater critic Peter Filichia.

The Douglas J. Cohen musical THE GIG, was commercially released on CD on August 12 through Jay Records. On August 18 at 6:00pm, there was a CD launch at Barnes & Noble on West 66th Street. The cast was there to perform and sign CDs following a panel discussion with Frank Gilroy, Sheldon Harnick, Douglas J. Cohen and moderated by Peter Filichia.
NYMF Announces ASCAP Presented 2008 Educational Series

The ASCAP Foundation will present this year's New York Musical Theatre Festival's Educational Series at Barnes and Noble Booksellers at Lincoln Triangle (1972 Broadway at 66th Street) on September 18th, 25th and October 2nd. The Educational Series provides an opportunity for audience members and aspiring theater artists to learn directly from industry professionals. All seminars are free of charge and made possible through the generous support of The ASCAP Foundation's Irving Caesar Trust.

On Monday June 16th at the 21 Club there was a cocktail reception celebrating Charles Strouse, his 80th birthday, his 50-year career and the launch of his new book, Put on a Happy Face: A Broadway Memoir. The evening included a musical tribute, the reading of a proclamation from the city of New York, and a performance by Strouse from behind the piano.

On Wednesday June 11, 2008 the Theatre World Awards for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut performances during the 2007-2008 theatrical season took place. The awards were presented by former Theatre World Award winners, including: Alec Baldwin (Loot, 1986), Griffin Dunne (Search and Destroy, 1992), Alexander Gemignani (Assassins, 2004), Andrea Martin (My Favorite Year, 1993), Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights, 2007), Rosie Perez (References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, 2001), and B.D. Wong (M. Butterfly, 1988). There were also be performances by former Theatre World Award winners, including: Karen Akers (Nine, 1982), Cheyenne Jackson (All Shook Up, 2005), Carol Lawrence (West Side Story, 1958) and Alice Playten (Henry, Sweet Henry, 1968).
