BWW Review: THE WIZARD OF OZ at the Fox
by Chris Gibson - Nov 28, 2010

When I asked my son what part of THE WIZARD OF OZ he liked the best he said: 'All of it.' So, I pressed him a little further, and asked who his favorite character was, and he said: 'The Wicked Witch.' I can only say that I wasn't surprised by his answers, but I was surprised by his stamina, as he sat riveted by the action taking place on stage for 2 and 1/2 hours. The touring company at the Fox Theatre this weekend (November 26-28) has conjured up a solid and engaging effort that's greatly enhanced by some memorable special effects wizardry that's particularly effective during the twister sequence.

Lemonade, wedding cake and a gown are easy enough to come by... but where's the groom? This side-splitting comedy overflows with love, laughter and Southern hospitality at its best! Wedding Belles was written by Alan Bailey and Ronnie Claire Edwards. Directed by associate artistic director Karen Lund, Wedding Belles opens on September 24 and runs through October 23, with low-price previews on September 22 and 23, plus a pay-what-you-can performance on September 29.

THE WIZARD OF OZ Lands in Austin
by Erin Privratsky - Jun 12, 2010

A staged production of L. Frank Baum classic The Wizard of Oz is playing Bass Concert Hall this weekend. A near exact recreation of the film we all know and love - laced with bits and pieces of the book with some modern aspects tossed in - the show is a fun time for children, and a nice way to introduce them to live theater.

Film Classic 'The Wizard Of Oz' Lands On Miami Stage
by Beau Higgins - Oct 22, 2008

'There is no better show to introduce your family to the dream of Broadway and live theater than THE WIZARD OF OZ,' says Susie Krajsa, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Broadway Across America. 'Over the years, THE WIZARD OF OZ has become an American icon and there are many testaments to it's longstanding place in our history. The original film is on the American Film Institutes (AFI's) top 10 movies of all time and the song 'Over the Rainbow' is ranked in AFI's top 100 songs. The ruby red slippers worn by Judy Garland are on view at the Smithsonian.'
