The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc., in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, stages Mary Poppins for its 2015 holiday fare. Mary Poppins will run at 1 p.m. on the weekends of Dec. 5 -6, 12-13, 19 and 20 with additional performances at 4:30 p.m. on Dec 6 and 20 and at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12.  All performances will be held in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Tickets are $10 each and are available from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-2787 (ARTS) or online at www.cpmarts.org.

As previously reported, Rob Marshall (Into the Woods, Chicago) will direct a new Disney film based on their classic 1964 movie, MARY POPPINS. Speaking to Vulture, the helmer revealed more about the project, which will take place in 1934, when the original P.L. Travers books -- about the magical nanny's continued adventures with the Banks family -- were written and could include a cameo (or more, please!) by the original film's legendary star.

It's Mary that we love, and Mary's coming back! According to Variety, Rob Marshall (Into the Woods, Chicago) will direct a Disney reboot of their classic 1964 film, Mary Poppins. The project will be produced by John DeLuca and Marc Platt. The film will reportedly take place 20 years after the events of the original movie, and will include 'storylines from the P.L. Travers' children books focusing on the magical nanny's continued adventures with the Banks family.' Casting has not yet been announced.

Today in 2006, Mary Poppins opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre, where it ran for 2619 performances. Mary Poppins is a Walt Disney Theatrical musical based on the similarly titled series of children's books by P. L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film. The West End production opened in December 2004 and received two Olivier Awards, one for Best Actress in a Musical and the other for Best Theatre Choreography. It received seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, winning for Best Scenic Design.
