Alison Steadman to Lead BLITHE SPIRIT in West End; Opens March 2011

Baz Bamigboye reports in the London Daily Mail today that Alison Steadman has signed on to lead the cast of BLITHE SPIRIT as 'Madame Arcati' in the West End. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin sometime in late September and open at the Theatre Royal in Bath on November 3, 2010 for a limited run. Thereafter, Bamigboye reports, the show will tour the U.K. briefly before landing at the Apollo Theatre in the West End on March 2, 2011.

?Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) on Navy Pier closes the 2010/11 Subscription Series with The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare's spark-filled comedy of an unconventional courtship. Returning to CST to direct the production is London's Bush Theatre Artistic Director Josie Rourke following her celebrated production of Twelfth Night last season. Rourke has assembled a top-notch ensemble, including some of Chicago's most highly regarded comedic actors and a world-class creative team for the production.

New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Ron Russell, Founding Executive Directors) today announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play (In The Next Room… or the vibrator play) and directed by Mark Wing-Davey (The Singing Forest). The cast will include Brendan Averett, Polly Noonan, Daniel Pearce, Alex Podulke, Keith Reddin, Godfrey L. Simmons Jr., T. Ryder Smith, Felix Solis Jr., Kate Turnbull and Nicole Wiesner.

Two rarely performed masterpieces of American theatre, one a European premiere, opened to widespread critical acclaim at Northampton's Royal & Derngate in October 2009. Now, riding the wave of its success, Spring Storm by Tennessee Williams and Beyond the Horizon by Eugene O'Neill will transfer to the National Theatre from 24 March (with press performances on 7 April). The transfer will be a fitting finale to the 125th birthday celebrations of the Royal stage Northampton and is the latest in a string of successes for the theatre, which includes a triple win at the TMA Awards 2009.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL Ends Run at the Arts Theatre January 10

Gareth Hale will play Scrooge in Susie McKenna and Steve Edis' adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, which is to open in the newly refurbished Arts Theatre in November this year. A Christmas Carol, produced by Tiny Tim Productions, will preview from 11 November, with the press performance on 25 November, and is booking until 10 January 2010.
