3Arts Awards Artists $25,000 Cash Grants

3Arts, the Chicago-based nonprofit grantmaking organization, is honored to award 20 Chicago artists with unrestricted grants at the 12th annual 3Arts Awards Celebration, taking place Monday, November 4 at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The celebration will honor ten 3Arts Awards recipients with $25,000 cash grants, and ten additional artists with $2,000 cash grants through Make a Wavea?"an unprecedented artist-to-artist giving initiative in which each of the previous year's 3Arts awardees select another artist to receive a surprise grant, sending a a?oewavea?? of support through Chicago's cultural communities.
Chicago Dancemakers Forum and The Nature Conservancy Partner For Series of Performances

Chicago Dancemakers Forum partners with The Nature Conservancy to present a series of original dance performances centered on stewardship and ecological exploration called Natural Encounters. Past Chicago Dancemakers Forum awardees Nejla Yatkin, Ayako Kato, Nico Rubio, and Erin Kilmurray will present immersive dance works at Indian Ridge Marsh, Hegewisch Marsh, and Big Marsh on the city's southeast side on Sept. 7 at 10:00 a.m., Sept. 21 at 4:00 p.m. and Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m. These events are presented as part of the Chicago Park District's Night Out in the Parks program. All three events are free and open to the public.
Chicago Dancemakers Forum Presents Its 2019 Awards Celebration And Benefit

Chicago Dancemakers Forum celebrates the ten 2019 Awardees: Anjal Chande, Keyierra Collins, Reginald Cosper Jr. aka Sirr Tmo, Jane Jerardi, Mitsu Salmon, Vershawn Sanders-Ward, Marceia L. Scruggs, Darling Shear, Connie Shiau, and Nejla Yatkin. The 2019 Awardees will be recognized on Thursday, July 11, 5:30pm at The Arts Club of Chicago during Chicago Dancemakers Forum's 2019 Awards Celebration and Benefit. The evening will include a cocktail reception, an awards presentation featuring videos by Wills Glasspiegel and Brandon "Chief Manny" Calhoun, and live performances by 2015 Lab Artist Benjamin Wardell (The Cambrians), 2010 Lab Artist Meida McNeal (Honey Pot Performance), and Khecari - 2008 Lab Artist Jonathan Meyer and 2009 Lab Artist Julia Antonick.
Chicago Dancemakers Forum Announces The 2019 Lab Artists

Chicago Dancemakers Forum announces the six recipients of the 2019 Lab Artist Awards. Anjal Chande, Jane Jerardi, Mitsu Salmon, Vershawn Sanders-Ward, Darling Shear, and Nejla Yatkin will each receive a cash grant of $15,000 combined with mentorship and collegial exchange throughout a year of artistic exploration. The Chicago Dancemakers Forum staff and consortium leadership support the artists as they research, develop, and present new dance works.
Sarah Hammond, Shaina Taub, and Charlie Sohne Receive Kleban Prize For Musical Theatre

The Kleban Foundation has announced the recipients of the 29th Annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre. The judges declared a tie in the most promising musical theatre lyricist category between Sarah Hammond and Shaina Taub. The Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Charlie Sohne. The 2019 prizes will be presented on Monday, February 4, 2018, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP.

Last night, Thursday, May 25, Abingdon Theatre Company celebrated opening night of its first musical: the New York premiere of THE BOY WHO DANCED ON AIR, with music by Tim Rosser and book and lyrics by Charlie Sohne, winners of 2015 Jonathan Larson and Mary Rodgers/Lorenz Hart Awards. Directed by Abingdon Theatre Company Artistic Director Tony Speciale, THE BOY WHO DANCED ON AIR is now playing through June 11, at the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street).
