Steven Reineke celebrated his tenth anniversary as Music Director of The New York Pops during the orchestra's current 2018-19 season. Steven is only the second person to hold the position of Music Director of The New York Pops, which was founded by Skitch Henderson in 1983, and is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. In collaboration with the NYC Department of Education's Borough-Wide Band and Orchestra program, KIDS ON STAGE allows middleschool students the opportunity to experience the professional performance process from the first audition to the final note. This year's finalists included: Sophia Atlas-Ruggirello, Isabel Bruschi, Kaitlyn Cao, Matthew Cuji, Marvin Carter, Zachary Davis, Melissa Dookie, Olivi Dul, John Fabrizio, Christopher Ferdinand, Magdalena Garandza, Chelsea Jordan, Miles Keingstei, Justin Laurenceau, Christopher Rush, Joshua Sipson, Liuxi Sun, David Valderrama, Jason Whitelaw and Margaret Wu.
