In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld is shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with Edward Pierce, a Tony nominee for his scenic design of Angels in America.

Producers Tim Levy (Director, NT America) and Jordan Roth (President, Jujamcyn Theaters) announced today that the Olivier Award-winning National Theatre revival of Tony Kushner's masterwork, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, now the most Tony Award nominated play in history, has extended its run on Broadway for an additional two weeks, through Sunday, July 15, 2018. Originally announced as an 18-week limited engagement, Angels in America began previews on February 23, and opened March 25 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street).

The National Theatre has announced its May-September 2018 season.

It wasn't exactly a stellar weekend for Donald Trump. Nationwide protest rallies condemned his party's relationship with the NRA, a woman revealed on national television that her life was threatened if she went public with details of their affair, and as for the cherry on top, ANGELS IN AMERICA: A GAY FANTASIA ON NATIONAL THEMES, has returned to Broadway.

The stunning National Theatre production of Tony Kushner's Angels in America opens on Broadway tonight at the Neil Simon Theater.

Returning to Broadway for the first time since its now-legendary original production opened in 1993, this spectacular new staging of Part One of Angels in America, Millennium Approaches, and of Part Two, Perestroika, directed by Marianne Elliott, had its world premiere earlier this year in a sold-out run at the National Theatre, where it became the fastest selling show in the organization's history. The epic story returns. Tony Kushner's two-part play, ANGELS IN AMERICA makes its way back to Broadway tonight! A cast led by Tony nominee Andrew Garfield and two-time Tony winner Nathan Lane will begin previews tonight at the Neil Simon Theatre with Part 1: Millennium Approaches. Angels in America has announced its digital lottery and general rush policy. The lottery will be powered by Broadway Direct. A limited number of lottery tickets will be made available to performances of the limited engagement. Angels in America is a two-part performance. Lottery tickets will be sold for both Part One, Millennium Approaches and Part Two, Perestroika together. The lottery will not be available for individual performances. The total combined price for both parts is $74 including facilities fees ($37 per part).

New casting announced for the new National Theatre season. Full cast has been announced for Brian Friel's Translations including Colin Morgan and Ciaran Hinds, part of the Travelex season with thousands of tickets available at £15. Eric Kofi Abrefa and Thalissa Teixeira join Vanessa Kirby in the cast of Julie, part of the Travelex season with thousands of tickets available at £15. Sam Mendes directs The Lehman Trilogy, a co-production with Neal Street Productions, cast includes Adam Godley, Ben Miles and Simon Russell Beale. Full casting is announced for the award winning An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, transferring to the National Theatre in a co-production with the Orange Tree Theatre. The NT will tour to 30 venues in 27 towns and cities across the UK and Ireland, for a total of 83 playing weeks over the next year. Rufus Norris' Macbeth to tour to 18 venues across the UK and Ireland from autumn 2018. War Horse returns to the National Theatre marking the centenary of Armistice Day.

The Neil Simon Theatre box office (250 West 52nd Street) officially opens today, Friday, January 19, 2018, for the highly anticipated National Theatre Production of Tony Kushner's epic and seminal masterwork, Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes, producers Tim Levy (Director, NT America) and Jordan Roth (President, Jujamcyn Theaters) announced today. This strictly limited, 18-week engagement, now in rehearsals, will begin performances on Friday, February 23, 2018, with an official opening on Sunday, March 25, 2018.
