The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director; David McCoy, Chairman of the Board), dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, has announced American operatic bass-baritone Mark Delavan (Tosca), Broadway's Alix Korey (Fiddler on the Roof) and Anne Runolfsson (The Phantom of the Opera) will lead the cast of the 1961 musical Milk and Honey.

The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, has announced six-time Emmy Award-winner and Tony Award-winner Tyne Daly will star in the 1969 musical Dear World, when she joins the company in celebrating Broadway composers, Jerry Herman and Kurt Weill, with the Winter 2017 Musicals in Mufti Series, January 28 - March 5, 2017.

Last week in Doha Mr. Herman Pabbruwe, the CEO of Brill, Dr. Khaled Letaief, Provost of the Hamad bin Khalifa University, and Dr. Tariq Ramadan, the Director of the Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics which is part of the Qatar Foundation's Hamad Bin Khalifa University, signed a contract for their collaboration on a new journal called Journal of Islamic Ethics. The new journal will be published by Brill, both online and in print, in two issues per year from 2017. The journal will be completely in Open Access and is sponsored by the Qatar Foundation.

The Cherry Orchard Festival (www.CherryOrchardFestival.org), promoting cultural diversity globally, is back for the fourth year with two unique programs, each showcasing the best of international artistry and talent.  TheTheater of Nations' Shukshin's Stories, based on the famous stories of Vasily Shukshin and directed byAlvis Hermanis (IL Trovatore featuring Placido Domingo and Anna Netrebko; Brodsky / Baryshnikov withMikhail Baryshnikov) will play 4 performances at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street): June 8th at 8pm, June 9th at 8pm, June 10th at 8pm and June 11th at 8pm. Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) presents the U.S. Premiere of the solo theater work BRODSKY / BARYSHNIKOV, based on poems by the late Nobel laureate Joseph Brodsky, and performed by actor and BAC artistic director Mikhail Baryshnikov. The one-man show was created for Baryshnikov in collaboration with Alvis Hermanis, noted Latvian director of The New Riga Theatre.

Jerry Herman's hit Broadway shows will sing and dance their way onto The Winter Park Playhouse Mainstage on March 18-19 and March 31-April 23. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2:00 p.m. and select Wednesday, Friday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.  The preview performance is Thursday, March 17 at 7:30p.m.

Ocean State Theatre Company (OSTC), the not-for-profit professional theatre company, which recently opened its fourth season in its state-of-the-art theatre in Warwick, is pleased to announce their new Cabaret Club.

1812 Productions will open its 2013-2014 season with Alan Zweibel's celebrated comedy Bunny Bunny-Gilda Radner: A Sort of Romantic Comedy. Bunny Bunny stars Leah Walton, in her 1812 Productions debut, as Gilda Radner and Barrymore Award winner Matt Pfeiffer as Alan, the play's fictional version of its own author. Matt Tallman, also making his 1812 Productions debut, joins the duo in more than 20 supporting roles.

Paul Garman, Executive Director/Producer, has announced a benefit concert version of Jerry Herman's rarely performed musical MACK & MABEL presented by Musical Theatre West at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center for one night only, Monday, May 20 at 8pm. Jerry Herman, composer/lyricist of the musical theatre classics Hello, Dolly!, Mame, and La Cage aux Folles, famously declared that MACK & MABEL is his own favorite score, and the New York Times says, "the songs remain among the most felicitous in Mr. Herman's canon."

Jerry Herman who provided the glorious scores for HELLO, DOLLY! and MAME, wrote the score for LA CAGE including what are probably two of the best theater songs of the second half of the twentieth century. "A Little More Mascara", sung by Zaza the star drag queen of La Cage as he transforms into a she, is just about as grand a show tune as one will find. "I Am What I Am", also sung by Zaza is a powerhouse of pride, love of self and is an exercise in teaching us how to bring the house down at the end of act one.

On Friday, November 4th, The American Songbook Project held its annual signature event, their 'Name That Tune' benefit at the historic Hudson Theater in New York. Their mission is to preserve the American Songbook by bringing professional singers in the NYC schools. This year they honored Broadway composer Jerry Herman and Guild Hall (East Hampton), both of whom celebrated their 80th birthdays this year. Liz Smith emceed the Jerry Herman tribute and her passionate, loving remarks about her friend included 'It is said by show biz insiders that Jerry is so universal the you just hear a song of his once and you can hum it or sing it. And you probably can't stop. That is pretty damned great. He is universal in the musical theater, the songsmith of modern American life.' Mr. Herman's tribute included performances by James Darrah recreating his role of Ambrose Kemper from the last Carol Channing revival of Hello Dolly singing 'It Only Takes a Moment;' Meredith Patterson and Jeffry Denman performing 'Tap Your Troubles Away' from Mack and Mabel; and Andrea McArdle singing 'If He Walked into My Life Today' from Mame accompanied movingly by nine-year old Kyrian Friedenberg on trumpet.

Jason Graae, the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award winner and Broadway and cabaret star, will bring his acclaimed tribute to Jerry Herman, 'PERFECT HERMANY' to The Laurie Beechman Theatre in West Bank Cafe, 407 West 42nd Street, on October 18-25, 2011. The Philhallmonic Society will perform a special concert, The Best of Times - The Music of Jerry Herman on Sunday, October 16 at 2:30 pm at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in the Bruno Walter Auditorium.
