Ronnie's latest recording 'Heal' with 'Band Burrage' blends fusion, hard bop, rock and pop elements in a diverse, contemporary fashion. There are sections featuring unison playing and Afro-Latin rhythms, then periods with free, skittering passages as drummer/keyboardist Ronnie Burrage, EWI/saxophonist Rick Tate, guitarist Eric Slaughter, bassist Nimrod Speaks and vocalist Shenel Johns take turns offering frenetic, exuberant solos. Influenced by groups like Wayne Shorter, U.K., Milton Nascimento, Weather Report, Miles Davis, Radio Head, Kendrick Lamar, Yes, Tribe Called Quest, Funkadelics, Sly & The Family Stone, Alan Holdsworth, Stevie Wonder to name a few.

The holidays are a special time at The Nash as the renowned jazz club sprinkles a dash of holiday themed concerts throughout the month, bringing classic jazz and hot Latin sounds to warm up the holiday month. Highlights include the arrival of one of the most renowned samba bands, direct from New York City, Duduka da Fonseca Trio w/ Maucha Adnet on December 9th. The project moves a cast selection that draws artists from all regions, but cancellation of the production budget could put the idea at risk.

The show has stories and images that represent the whole history of Bossa Nova and its importance for Brazilian music. Though Seu Jorge is one of Brazil's most celebrated singers and actors, he is perhaps best known here in the U.S. for his role in Wes Anderson's 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, in which Jorge reinterpreted a number of David Bowie's biggest hits. The songs, performed in Portuguese and featuring Jorge solo on acoustic guitar, became something entirely unique. So much so that Bowie himself was moved to say, 'Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with.'
