Artistic Director of Polka Theatre, Peter Glanville today announces their new season for Autumn/ Winter 2018 comprising both new Polka productions and visiting work as well as classes and workshops, celebrating some of the greatest living writers for children.

Mike Kenny's Random Selfies will have its premiere later this month at Polka Theatre's Techtopia Festival. Kenny is one of the leading writers in the UK who specialises in theatre for young people. His adaptation of The Railway Children for York Theatre Royal, seen at Waterloo and Kings Cross stations and the National Railway Museum, won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment in 2011.

This classic family tale is the first solo, in-house production for The Albany. It has been adapted for the stage from the novel by Kenneth Grahame by Olivier award-winning playwright, Mike Kenny and boasts a cast of local professional talent alongside teams of local community artists to bring the adventures of these celebrated riverbank friends and foes to life - including Coventry actor, Paul Nolan as the charming character Mole.

I've wanted to work with Polka Theatre since I graduated from Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, and regularly badgered the artistic directors with my photograph and CV. In October, I was invited to a research and development day for The Snow Queen, where the director and designer worked with us to gather ideas for how this show might come together. A day of play!
