THE LAVENDER EFFECT is presenting a free workshop performance of the new LGBTQ+ play "y2k" by Michael Liberatore, at West Hollywood Park Auditorium on Saturday December 15, 2018 at 7pm. Directed by Jill Andre and starring Mel England, Michael Vaccaro and Christopher Stephanic, "y2k" is set at the turn of the millennium in New York City in the critical days of the AIDS Epidemic during the emergence of life-saving drugs that transformed the landscape of Gay men's relationships and lives.

This weekend Palm Springs celebrates PRIDE! But PRIDE does not end on Sunday it continues with the cast of the hit LGBTQ comedy/drama ELECTRICITY with 2 shows this week: Tuesday, Nov 6 & Wednesday, Nov 7!

ELECTRICITY, the hit LGBTQ comedy/drama begins it's second year in Palm Springs, after celebrating it's one-year anniversary in August. The critically-acclaimed production of ELECTRICITY, a new American play written and starring TERRY RAY ("My Sister is So Gay") and co-starring MEL ENGLAND ("Best Day Ever"), moved to Palm Springs after a run in Los Angeles, and has also played in cities across the country.

The July 12 show will include a fundraiser for The Aliveness Project, a Minneapolis organization that links people living with HIV to resources for leading healthy, self-directed lives.

Raised in an upstate New York blue-collar family, Fred Herko showed much promise as a concert pianist, going on to attend Julliard. But at age 20 after seeing a performance of Giselle, he announced his intention to give up the piano and become a ballet dancer. The resulting severe beating by his father for pursuing a career for gay men, only inspired Herko to follow the type of life he dreamed for himself after being awarded a four-year scholarship to attend the American Ballet Theater School. He moved to Greenwich Village and never looked back during his too short yet wildly successful career.

Curator, writer and translator Gerard Forde will lead a Q&A discussion following the Thursday, Sept. 28 performance of Freddy at the Caminito Theatre on the campus of Los Angeles City College.
