Newseum Opens “Marching for Women's Rights”

On Friday, March 1, the Newseum will open a free outdoor exhibit called "Marching for Women's Rights,"a display featuring images of historic front pages that chronicle the women's suffrage movement and the landmark March 3, 1913, suffrage parade in Washington. The exhibit coincides with the 100th anniversary of the parade, in which more than 5,000 suffragists and other supporters marched down Pennsylvania Avenue demanding the right to vote. "Marching for Women's Rights" will appear in the front pages cases outside the Newseum at 555 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., from March 1 to March 14, 2013.

Goodman Theatre was full of 'Glee' on May 21 at the theater's black tie 'One Enchanted Decade' gala. The Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony-Award nominated Matthew Morrison performed for a sold-out crowd of more than 850 guests as they celebrated the theater's 10th anniversary at its 170 N. Dearborn St. home in the heart of Chicago's Theater District. Co-chaired by Women's Board members Margaret M. Janus and Swati Mehta, the event raised a record $1 million to benefit the Goodman's Education and Community Engagement programs.

Screen and stage heartthrob Matthew Morrison takes a break from his Glee television classroom to headline Goodman Theatre's May 21 Gala to celebrate 'One Enchanted Decade' on Dearborn Street. The Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony-Award nominated 'triple-threat' (LA Times) has captivated audiences of all ages. 'Blessed with a boyish innocence and beautiful voice' (Playbill), Morrison lights up both the stage and small screen with his mesmerizing talent. The black-tie gala event begins with a cocktail reception at the Goodman (170 N. Dearborn), followed by Morrison's performance in the 856-seat Albert Theatre. The festivities continue as guests shuttle to The Fairmont Hotel (200 N. Columbus) for an elegant dinner and dancing to the tunes of the Al Sofia Orchestra. All proceeds benefit the Goodman's Educational and Community Engagement programs.
