Cast Announced for Orlando Engagement of THE LION KING

Casting has been announced for the Orlando return engagement of Disney's The Lion King. The show's first appearance in the Walt Disney Theater at Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and it's third time to Orlando, the four-week engagement runs from February 14 through March 11.

Casting has been announced for the Atlanta return engagement of Disney's The Lion King, which will leap onto the Fox Theatre stage on January 10 for a limited three week engagement through January 28 as a special to the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2017/2018 season.

The excitement in the air in Syracuse, New York has been going on for quite awhile since it was announced that the North American tour of The Lion King would be coming to the Landmark Theatre in late October. Broadway In Chicago's Summer Concert on Monday drew probably the largest crowd for the event I have seen in several years of attendance (and they were definitely a fired-up bunch). Musical theater fans across Chicago clamored to see Broadway In Chicago's showcase of ten upcoming touring shows (with a bonus appearance from HAMILTON's Chris De'Sean Lee, who co-hosted with usual emcee Janet Davies of ABC7). Here's my take on the highlights of the concert and which touring musicals should top your must-see list for the coming season.

They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway -they say there's always magic in the air… And soon, there will surely be some of that Broadway magic gracing the Flat Rock Playhouse Mainstage, "mountain-style", with the return of the State Theatre's 2007 hit, Smokey Joe's Cafe!  Performing the Music of the great Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, the band will be jumpin' and the joint will begin to swing until everyone in the historic barn theatre is singin' and dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock!  As the first large-scale musical production of the 2017 Mainstage Series, Smokey Joe's Cafe will run on the Mainstage in the Village of Flat Rock from April 21st through May 13th, featuring a cast of nine spectacular performers and a rockin' band of six musicians who will bring down the house with this musical masterpiece.
