Following her sold-out engagement last spring, Anna Bergman returns to the stage of 'the nightclub of New York,' Feinstein's at Loews Regency (540 Park Avenue @ 61st Street) for the opening of its 10th Anniversary season. On September 14th, 15th and 21st (8:30PM) Anna will present her new show, My Heart Stood Still: The Love Songs of Richard Rodgers with special guest, Broadway veteran, Brent Barrett.

The 92nd Street Y announces the 2009 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists™, the Y's legendary American Songbook series. This is the first season curated by new series artistic director DEBORAH GRACE WINER, who created three shows for L&L over the last five years, and is now taking on responsibility for the overall artistic direction of the series. Her inaugural line-up of guest artistic directors features MARTIN CHARNIN, DAVID ZIPPEL, ROBERT KIMBALL, REX REED, and BILLY STRITCH.

On Monday, June 2, The Paley Center for Media hosted a tribute to the composer Charles Strouse on the occasion of his eightieth birthday. The event, 'Applause Applause: A Tribute to Charles Strouse,' featured rare television footage; a live piano performance by Strouse and Andrea McArdle (who created the title role in the original cast of the Broadway musical Annie); and a panel discussion about his life and work moderated by Paley Center president Pat Mitchell.
Peter Filichia (Theatre critic, The New Jersey Star-Ledger; Author Let's Put on a Musical: How to Choose the Right Show for Your Theater) was on the panel. Friends in the audience included Thomas Meehan (Tony award-winning writer), and Martin Charnin (Tony award-winning lyricist and director).
Strouse is best known for his many Broadway shows (including Bye Bye Birdie, Golden Boy, Applause, Annie, and Rags) and his music for film and television-most notably the iconic theme song from All in the Family.

The 19th Annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION announced a total of $3,927,000 had been raised by the over 64 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Tour companies to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This beats the previous record of $3,420,000 set in 2004.
