One of my favorite activities is reading books and what better time to do that then right now when we're all stuck at home? Unfortunately, there are many theatre related activities we cannot participate in right now but one of the best ways we can learn more about our crafts and read about others in our fields is by reading about them. There are hundreds of Broadway related books, script writing and acting guides, memoirs by our favorite stars, and more! I thought I would share some of my favorites with you all to hopefully get you all back in the mindsets of creating art and learning about those who you look up to.
JOOKMS Announces Call for Submissions For SPOTLIGHT SUMMER PERFORMANCE SERIES

JOOKMS announces a call for submissions to the inaugural Spotlight Summer Performance Series. The Unframed at New Stage Theatre Series and JOOKMS will provide a platform for Mississippi-made LGBTQ+ writers and performers. The reading series will run July 20th - 26th and will feature LGBTQ+ one-act and full-length plays.

Borracho: Spanish for Drunken Bum by Abe Zapata Jr. has made its raucous return to West Hollywood and Q Youth Foundation wants to keep this party going until closing. After a sold out opening night hosted by Impulse Los Angeles audiences have been laughing and spreading the word about the gayest party in town, which is saying a lot for West Hollywood.
Madison Lyric Stage Announces 2020 Season; Subscriptions Now On-Sale

Madison Lyric Stage, a professional theater company serving the Connecticut Shoreline, has announced its 2020 mainstage season: a double bill of Puccini's Suor Angelica and Schoenberg's Erwartung in April; the landmark Mart Crowley play The Boys in the Band in July; and, for Halloween, the Stephen Sondheim/Hugh Wheeler musical masterpiece Sweeney Todd. All three productions will be directed by Marc Deaton.

Borracho: Spanish for Drunken Bum by Abe Zapata Jr. is back and making its debut at the Actors Company for two weekends from January 31st to February 9th. A portion of the play proceeds will benefit Q Youth Foundation an LGBTQIA+ organization dedicated in working with the LGBTQIA+ community with playwrighting and creative writing workshops.

My fall quarter at SCAD just ended last week and now I'm off until the beginning of January for my winter break. One of the classes I took as a dramatic writing major was playwriting and I got to thinking about some of my favorite plays that I would love to share with people and hopefully they can experience for themselves one day.
